Is it possible to disable speed dial?

Sorry if that is a simple and easy question, but I've taken a look and cannot see how to do this.

I don't use speed dial. So - if possible - each time I click on the "+" button to open a new tab, I would like it to bring up Google straight away rather than having to click on the google thumbnail in the speed dial section.

If it is possible, please could someone tell me how.

Cheers

Max

Set Google as your home page and replace the new tab button with the home page button (Customise, Appearance, Buttons).

Or have both on one button:

Home Drag to the floating toolbar next to the new tab button. Click to go to your home page; hold to open speed dial. Remove the new tab button if you like this better.

Oh dear - I messed that up. Tried doing what you said but all I've managed to do so far is remove the "+" bit required for a new tab.

So a new question to begin with.... How do I get that back???

And once that is back, would you mind clarifying what you meant in your post?

Thanks a million for the help.

Hi again

I've had a play about and have now managed to add the +/New Tab button back. I also had a play with the buttons you created (in this thread and in my other one too).

Here's what would be really helpful - a button which opens my homepage (google) in a new tab, all in one click. Is that possible.

Thanks again for alt the help.

Home With the previous button, if you disable "Reuse current tab" in Preferences tabs it will open a new page anyway. With that checked, this button will open a new page, then go to your home page.

Thanks, I also was able to get this working. A main advantage for me is
that it gets the "speed dial" page off the history of sites visited on the
tab. (I like the alt-Z shortcut on the 9.2 shortcuts).

It would be nice if there was a simple option to make speed dial
disappear completely, for those of us who just don't like it.

Have you tried changing opera:config#UserPrefs|SpeedDialState to 3?
