Opera stopped downloading emails

Hello, I have the latest Opera 11.51, win 7 64b and yesterday after send off my PC and "waking up", Opera hunch and couldn´t be switched off. I had to restart PC as it couldn´t be switched off even with any process explorer. After its switching on I found out an error - it doesn´t load e-mails. There is only a message in the window that it is downloading but it doesn´t download anything. I reinstall Opera, it doesn´t help. Even sending e-mails doesn´t work. It shows well the old e-mails with the "body" of the message. Now, I got one e-mail that was downloaded all but the problem is still going on. I use few e-mail addresses.

Does anybody know what to do with it? I have some thousands of e-mails there and I don´t want to do it all again. I would 100% lost some as it happened before few times.
Only thing I didn´t do was the clear profil as I think it doesn´t have an impact on e-mails. Now, I have noticed that it download some e-mails but only the heads and there is no "body" of the e-mail. It downloads some heads for example 4 times. All with no content. After restarting Opera, it shows that it is downloading 11 instead of 19 messages. After another restart, it shows 14 messages etc.

I have reinstalled Opera for few times, I create a new profil and nothing helps.

I solved it in our forum but with no result. So I thought it would be better if I put the link here so you can see what we were solving. It is through google translator so it is not very good

The mail folder (opera:about for the location) is part of the profile.

I'm guessing that because Opera didn't get to shut down properly some mail files (like the database or indexer) got corrupted. Or, the OS itself corrupted things when it didn't shut down right.

When things go seriously wrong, you usually have to do <http://operawiki.info/ImportFromBadMailFolder> if you have POP accounts. If you just have IMAP accounts, you can delete the mail folder and set them up again.

I see the translated text but still wasn't sure how you solved it. Did you start with a new mail folder and import or did you just rename index.ini so Opera created a new one and that fixed it?

I created a new profile as I wrote before but it does not help either.

It is possible that Opera was not shut down properly, it was on the notebook I just closed it (hibernate).

I had a look at this http://operawiki.info/ImportFromBadMailFolder but I think it is too hard for me as I do not speak ENglish so well (IT English).

Translated text:
I did not solve it. I tried rename index.ini, did not help. I also tried to rename folder LEXICON, did not help.
I did not try import emails in this Opera instalation. As I wrote I tried to import for few times and it never went OK. Especially the sent emails were wrong.

I tried to import emails to Opera portable. Everything works, except I have 40000 emails insteead of 8000 emails (it makes the copies emails or it downoads or both). In the installed version I have 8000 emails.

What about if I move some files from OPera portable to installed Opera? Would it help?

Regards

Radek

O.K. Will see if someone can do something about that sometime. I see there's no mail forums for http://my.opera.com/czech/forums/

When you import from POP accounts, you only want to import messages that are no longer on the server. If you import messages that are still on the server, you'll have two copies: one fetched from the server by Opera and one that was imported. In these cases, you have to delete the imported copies. However, avoiding the importing of messages that are still on the server or deleting only imported copies of a message is difficult and or time consuming.

Replacing the mail folder in your installed Opera (after backing it up first) with the mail folder from the portable Opera would help. But, since your Opera portable mail folder has all those duplicates, you're going to have those duplicates in the installed Opera then too.

I think there is no point to write there as there ar eprobably still the same people.

I will avoid importing for now.

I did not want to copy the whole mail folder but only the small files (for example index.ini etc.), I want to keep the original emails that are in installed Opera (in the non working M2 Opera). Would it not bee possible to do it like that?

I found file opera.DMP in folder TEMP it has about 500mb. It looks it is from the date when it broke down. Does it help to anything?

I had problems last night with sending and receiving mail from Opera.

My outgoing messages seemed to be stuck in the outbox but in fact were being sent.

For every email that I sent the recipient was receiving two. The one that was stuck in my outbox was being received but without any writing in the email. The original was being received with the writing ??

I was unable to receive any mail and all I kept getting was messages saying that mail was being delivered but nothing came.

Today I can't fix anything so I have completely uninstalled Opera and all my profiles. I have now reinstalled Opera and had to spend ages getting everything back to how I had customised it.

I set up all my email accounts and they are working perfectly other than losing all my saved mail and contacts.

You should mixed files from different mail folders. That can make things worse.

Sounds like a crash dump file that windows generated. Can't see how that'd be useful for recovering mail.

Ok. Do you know about any other solutions or only the one you described? Are you sure it will help?

Only the one I described.

As long as all the mbs files in the mail/store folder for each account are in tact and Opera doesn't have any problems importing them, it will definitely work as you're starting with a new mail folder, which includes a new mail database, indexer and index.ini etc. and importing the mbox files directly. You'll still have to deal with duplicates.

Ok, thank you very much. Then it will be better for me to move whole folder MAIL from Opera portable.

Something is strange. It started to do similar things on th other PC. Opera still keeps going down (crashing). After its restart, it crashes within 1-2s again and errors that it doesnot know passwords to the email accounts starts to show up.

Strange indeed. Perhaps you're installing some extension or browser plug-in that is crashing Opera or visit some site that is crashing Opera. Or, perhaps something else like another program is interfering with Opera.

For startup crashers, you can delete the autosave.win file in the sessions folder in your Opera profile to start with a new session.

Or, you could have viruses, spyware and malware interfering.

I still have the same extensions, I did not add anything new. I use these autocomplete, IMage preview popup, WOT, Lastpass. Opera crashes on any site. Even if I delete autosawe.win and open any new site, it crashes. It does for the last 2 days. And now it has not done for about 1 hour.

I do not have any virus, spyware etc. It does on 2 PCs. I have Kaspersky version 2012 as a new program, before I had version 2011, it will not be the case as I have not Kaspersky on other PC.

I'd uninstall all your extensions just to be sure. If that still doesn't help, I don't know. Opera works fine for me and doesn't crash.

I did not have time. I am going back to it now. I will try to do it according to this link http://operawiki.info/ImportFromBadMailFolder

I tried to Opera portable. Emails work, but there are duplicates. Do you know how to get rid off it?
