Do you create bunch of people into 1 folder in contacts ?

HI all,

I do this in my contacts:

- In contacts, new folder. (name e.g. New York Team)
- Right click folder, add contact, I gave a name to this contact say 'Team' , then I add people in the email address field i.e. abc@nyteam.com;xyz@nyteam.com;...etc.)

So, Compose mail > "To" field > Click > choose the folder New York Team > It pops up "Add all contacts in folder" beneath is the word 'Team'.

Problem gets here.

The mouse click to "Add all contacts in folder" or click to "Team" is not always work. It does not add the email addresses into the "To" field.
It should be worked on either ways.

Reason to why I asked is, I have not only New York Team Folder in contacts, I have M_A_N_Y other folders in contact & now each of them giving me a different option alike which I don't know beforehand. Each time I am like in a guessing game whether or not I should click the "add all contacts in folder" or the Title beneath the half divider line.

Thanks
Edmond.

Afaik you should use the comma separated style on the addresses. So it should be something like "user1@email1.com, user2@email2.com".

Burnout426 have said:

However, if ';' works too, that's probably because Dutch and German for example use ';' for a separator instead of a ','. But, Opera will just convert the ';' to ',' in the outgoing message. That means that using ',' for a separator is kind of the more correct way to do it.

I've just done a test here and both ways worked fine.

It adds no addresses? Or there are some addresses missing?

In this case, both works the same way here. But i don't have any contacts with lots of e-mail addresses in it, just created one with a few to test and it worked as said.

Seems to work fine for me. I tried a bunch of times.

In this case, since each address points to a different person, instead of using multiple addresses in a single contact, I'd create a separate contact for each team member under the team folder. But, you can do it any way that you want as long as it works.

Now I'm at office & I now demo myself in COMPOSING MODE, I "click" all of these "Folders" contact.
No matter I click on "all contact in this folder" , or I click on the beneath "Team"

It accepted.

Thanks Burnout426.
Edmond.
P.S. Actually, How I could add picture in here ? e.g. a screen capture to show you my situation like this one ? I do not see from below any where has "add pic/file" button like other forum does.

Click the wrench icon on the top right of this page, goto files and upload the pic to your file space. Then, right-click on the link to the pic, copy link address and paste it here. Or, use the link with the insert image button in the editor.

You can see what I meant was, You see lots & lots of my contacts I made them into "folders" due to I have to add several persons as a group. My problem started with, some folders accept my mouse click onto the "add all contacts in folder" B_U_T !! some folder not. Means, come folder if I click "add all contacts in folder",no response., won't insert for me the email address"es" into the "To:" field.

Vice versa, sometime, when I click the lower part beneath the horizontal divider line, it won't response & won't add for me email address"es" into the "To:" field.

You know...........

Does "add all contacts in folder" get highlighted with a blue background when you hover over it? It does for me. I don't try to click until I see that blue background.

The divider line and a little space above and below it doesn't response to clicks, yes. But, as long as I hover an actual entry, it works for me.

I'm just not able to reproduce the problem. If it only happens with certain folders, I'd try to see what makes that folder do it. Maybe it's something to do with its name or its email addresses or its position in the contacts panel. I don't know.

See my sig about bugs with contacts with several addresses... Maybe it can help you in some way... One of the bugs is that you must separate the addresses with ", " instead of just ","
But I think you are using *both* of two (maybe) exclusive options:
1) Create a folder, containing several contacts, with one (or maybe several) address(es) per contact. Or...
2) Create a contact (working as a group/team), containing the members addresses

Regards,

Thanks Yin Yang,
However, I do not see of either way ", " or "," or even "; " or ";" would cause a problem.
I have a feeling opera accept all of these fashions.

It's an old bug and maybe it's already fixed... I don't use M2 anymore, only webmail...
This bug is about when you open the Contacts panel and click on a contact with several addresses to see all the msgs to/from this contact...
But in my old posts I relate about the different behavior if you use (or not) the TO: button
