How to manage mailing list when they are messed up?
Hi,I think I've messed up one of the mailing list I've subscribed to.
I saw that among the mailing list messages there were other messages those are not part of that list, and by the way they have also been labeled by me.
Now, I thought that I could create mailing list group by myself and thus I deleted one of the mailing list with the hope to reorganize that list from scratch. But I found out that Opera just automatically create the mailing lists and apparently there's no way to organize this part of the Mail by my own.
Hope I'm wrong and I can bring back the mailing list group I deleted. By the way, the other list I haven't touched yet, they still contains messages those are not part of the list. Is there a way to clean that up? (I would have asked this sooner, instead of delete that list, sigh)

Correct. It will be recreated the next time Opera sees a message from the message list. If you can find a message from the mailing list elsewhere in "All Messages/Received" for example, you could open it, ctrl + s to save the message as an mbs file and then import that mbs file via "Menu -> settings -> import and export -> import mail -> import generic mbox". That should be enough to trigger the creation of the message list, but maybe not.
When you have messages in a view that don't belong, there are a few things you can check:
1. Click the view button on the mail toolbar above the messages list for the view in question, goto "show" and make sure only the stuff you want checked is. For example, you might not want "show hidden" checked.
2. Set the Mail Database Consistency Check Time to 0, save the change and restart Opera. Choose OK to perform the maintenance. The number will reset to a high number after the restart, so don't worry about that.
3. Goto "Menu -> settings -> import and export -> export Opera contacts". Then, go into the contacts panel ,delete all your contacts and then empty the contacts panel trash. Then, go back to "import and export" and import your contacts from the file you just created. This should only be necessary if you've used a contacts.adr with a mail folder other than the one it was created with.
4. Click the view button on the mail panel toolbar and choose "reset mail panel to defaults".
#2 will probably fix it.
burnout426,
thanks for your advices. Unfortunately it seems none of them worked out.
Actually, the one that worked better so far seems to be saving the mbs and importing it back as mbox. Opera creates the list again and correctly assign it to the list. But does that mean I should export each message one by one? As Opera added to the list only the message I've imported.

Create a label name "to export". Drag all the list messages that are not showing up in the mailing list view to that label. Right click on the label and choose export to export all those messages to a single mbs file. Then, import that mbs file to import all those messages. Hopefully, that will get them all back in the mailing list view. From then on, new messages should show up in there.
But, when you saved the message and imported it back in, did you choose "new account" or did you import into your existing POP account? If you do the former, the messages that show up in the mailing list view might only be the copies you imported where if you delete the import account, you won't see the messages there anymore. If you do the latter, you'll have duplicates and you'll have to delete the originals. But, if you delete the originals and they're still on the server, the copies will be removed from the server too.
It might just be easier for you to do <http://operawiki.info/ImportFromBadMailFolder> so that you can be sure everything is right with Opera's mail files.
