How to have the tabs to use the whole width of the window?

At the moment my situation is this:
http://i53.tinypic.com/256ziop.jpg

What I want is this:
http://i56.tinypic.com/hvq92u.jpg

Notice how the tabs use the full width of the window and there is no annoying empty space on the right side. I use my opera in windowed mode and when I change the width of the opera window I want the tabs to both fill all the lateral space and not jump from one row to another.

I did reinstall my opera just a moment ago and for some reason this tab setting was changed and I have no idea how to get it back like it was. I've searched for about an hour now for an answer but haven't found anything.

Is this a skin issue? My tabs just get smaller and all fill out on one line.

That will not happen if you have tabs set to wrap to multiple rows. Disabling wrapping by using the "No wrap" or "Extender menu" settings is the best solution IMO. Otherwise, edit the skin to reduce the tab width by 10 pixels to make the tabs fit better.

@ Hyperactive
You have 8 x 160 pixels + about 80 pixels wasted.
Try 9 x 150 pixels or 10 x 125 pixels.

Looks like there is something just broken with my opera. I can't even change places of the tabs by dragging them around.

Edit: just to clarify I can't drag the tabs to change them to different order. Instead if I try to drag them to different order they just get stacked. Can you turn that tab stacking off somewhere?

Also it seems it is some setting in opera causing all this behavior because changing skins does not change how the tab dragging works.

Pesala, what do you mean? Changing some settings of the skin or changing some things in some opera settings file??

Edit2. Fixed the tab dragging issue by turning the "show tab preview on" and then back off... ARGGGH!! Not working. Apparently turning off the "use multiple rows" allows tab dragging but if I want to have tabs on multiple rows I can't drag them. FRUSTRATING!

Tabs still not using all the lateral space...

Tabs won't use all the lateral space, the mini toolbars(s) with the "+" and the trash can are full height - you can't have tabs that are above those buttons. Until Opera itself changes that, there is nothing to do there.

Since those screenshots I have moved those icons elsewhere but the tabs still do not use all lateral space. I can not find any width settings for the tabs in the skin.ini file either so I don't really know what to do with Pesala's advice... sad

I have to say it has been very annoying experience reinstalling opera. Some settings are just totally hidden and it's very time consuming to get some small things changed. Before the reinstall:
a) tabs used multiple rows (this works)
b) I could drag tabs to change their order (now it just stacks them)
c) tabs always used all lateral space (I had buttons on the right side then as well and it did not cause problems)
d) also the tab text colors were different. I have searched the internets for quite a bit and adjusted different colors in different places without any success. What I'd like to do is to change the text color of new tab to blue instead of white... I've checked about:config and also the skin.ini but so far haven't found the right color place... Edit: figured this one out. In addition to changing skin.ini settings I also had to turn off skin special effects and use none color themes in shift-F12...

I have no idea how to fix those (b,c).

Anyone have any ideas how to make the tab dragging work with having the tabs on multiple lines? Not being able to drag the tabs is a huge pita! Any help appreciated!

The only way now how to drag the tabs is to:
1) find the place where you want to move it. Then clone the tab next to that location
2) now drag the tab next to that cloned tab. Opera stacks the two tabs
3) just close the cloned tab so ther are no stacked tabs
4) you have moved a tab to different place!
5) this annoying

Thanks for advice. However that's not what I want at all.

edit: I think I'll have to go back to 10.63 which is the last version before tab stacking... wonder if the 11.51 bookmarks are backwards compatible with 10.63?

Hi, I have same problem with moving tabs. When I use own tool bar and wrapping tabs in more lines I can't move with tabs. What means "Use the Windows Panel".
Thanks for answering, TC.

Open the Windows Panel on the left (F4) and drag/drop tabs in that.

That exactly like it looks on my screen too. No idea how to fix it and I don't have time yet to try older opera version...

Open the Windows Panel on the side of the screen.

Drag the tab to the same window or another window.

Drop it onto another tab to stack it, or drop it between tabs to move it. A horizontal line will be shown when you're about to drop it between tabs. Its just like dragging and dropping bookmarks to rearrange them.

This method works even if "Wrap to multiple rows" is enabled, and extends the feature to drag/drop between Opera Windows.
