website blocking and blocked cookie list storage/backup
My earliest multi-tab experience was with NetCaptor, written by Adam Stiles. There is one specific feature in NetCaptor that I absolutely would love to see in Opera, and no other multi-tab browsers has come close to achieving. That function is to press one of the function keys (f10 I believe) and it will block a certain website. You can choose to unblock that site if you deemed you have blocked the wrong site, but you do have the options to do so. While the pop-up blocking function has worked wonderfully, it has not been able to block all pop-ups, thus this action would become quite useful to tailor to individual's experience. The blocking of a website also has a positive spin in parental control, so that parents can decidedly disallow children from visiting certain websites while using Opera. No reasons will be offered, and children would not be likely to ask their parents why they cannot go to some sleazy websites.
A password-needed function can be added to the blocklist if one wishes to edit it. Another is for the list of sites that are blocked, as well as cookie-related actions (accept, or deny) to be stored in a txt file or something similar so that if and when a new installation is done on a different computer, or reformatting of the current computer occurred, the user would not have to go through the same process again, running into cookies accepting or denying, or remembering what websites to block. This way the txt file might not be locked, but it would take a little computer smartness to locate the file and edit accordingly.
#1: opera already has content blocking ... right-click -> block content, or preferences -> advanced -> content -> blocked content
#2: backup the %appdata%/Opera folder (or chose "stand alone installation" in the installer preferences which installs the program and user settings in one directory so you can eg. install it on an usb drive).
