import bookmarks toolbar from Firefox?

I just managed to import the bookmarks from firefox (and made a dropdown bookmarks folder in the bookmarks toolbar). It seems the bookmarks from the firefox bookmarks toolbar are not imported.

I am just starting with Opera too and also can't get my Firefox bookmarks imports according to the Opera instructions. I go to the directory where the places.sqlite file is located, it's about 10,000KB, and it imports only the one line description Firefox Bookmarks but it's empty. Not one bookmark in it. So something gets missed somehow. Any ideas as it seems the same type problem as the OP is having.

(I was going to start a new topic about an issue with bookmarks imported from Firefox, but since this is already here I'll join instead.)

I actually had no problem importing my nearly-1,500 FF8 bookmarks - I exported them to HTML and they imported apparently error-free into Opera 11.52 (Win 7). I even got them to appear as in Firefox: Some in the bookmarks menu and others on the bookmarks bar.

Almost, that is...

The displayed order is reversed for the vast majority (but not all) of the entries, both folders and actual bookmarks. The sort order in the Bookmarks Manager is set to "Sort by My Order", BTW. Here's what I'm seeing (maybe someone else has come acrros this) :
  • The Bookmarks menu itself is sorted correctly at the top level (i.e., what first appears when you click on the Bookmarks menu), but all submenus and bookmarks on down are reversed.
  • I created a sub-folder on the Bookmarks menu named "Bookmarks bar" and enabled "Show on Bookmarks Bar" for everything in it. That folder's contents (which were my FF bookmarks bar entries) are also sorted in reverse order like the other. However, when viewed on the Bookmarks Bar itself, the top level enties (those directly in the "Bookmarks bar" folder) ARE displayed in the correct order. But, again if you drill down to any nested folders or bookmarks under them, they're all in reverse order as well.

In the Bookmarks Manager, the only thing that appears properly sorted are the toplevel entries of the Bookmarks menu itself.

Confused yet? confused

I've loaded the bookmarks.html file from FF and it is indeed in the proper order, so it was exported correctly.

Any idea what's causing Opera to reverse-sort basically everything that's one level below the top displayed level? Manually re-sorting all my bookmarks is not a feasible option.

Thanks.

I am having the same problem, lphilpot.
I exported my Firefox bookmarks to a bookmarks.html (1,600 bookmarks). When I imported them from opera, they are all in reverse order.
This sucks. I don't have the time nor patience to sort correct my 1,600 bookmarks that Opera failed to import correctly.

Check out http://www.linkagogo.com/go/Convert

It converted my FF bookmarks much better than Opera, which still missorted some of them. But I was able to correct that smaller subset and move on.

Firstly, I tried to import bookmarks from Firefox 8.0 to Opera 11.6 (not all bookmarks imported). In the end I used:

For me works very well and convert bookmarks from Firefox 8.0 to Opera 11.6 much better than Opera.
