some sites don't work

I love Opera, but unfortunately not all site work or display properly. Amazon for example I went onto their help pages and asked for a contact form which wasn't supported in opera. Worked perfectly in both Internet explorer and firefox. This is not the only example there are more.

The first thing to do in Opera with "incompatible" sites like Amazon is to edit the site preferences to mask Opera as Firefox or IE.

1. Go to Amazon or any other site you're experiencing issues
2. Press F12 (or right click a blank area) and choose "Edit Site Preferences..."
3. Click the "Network" tab
4. Towards the bottom is a drop down menu for "Browser Identification." Choose "Mask as Firefox" or "Mask as Internet Explorer"
5. Click OK and refresh/reload the page you are on.

Suddenly things will work, like the Amazon Gold Box Deals, various menus, etc. This works for Netflix too and other sites that "don't work" in Opera. This is because some websites use Browser Sniffing to determine what browser you're using and display content accordingly.

I hope this is helpful. I haven't had to mask many sites as FF, but when I need to it's nice to have the option. This doesn't always resolve the problems, but most of the time it seems to fix them.
