Return to Opera forces a new Google search tab to open

Issue: When I return to Opera using the Android browser button (not to be confused with the "Android Browser" app) on the home screen, the last Opera page viewed is briefly glimpsed and then a new tab is opened and the Google search page is loaded. Each time I return to Opera using this method, yet another Google search page tab is opened.

Phone: Ideos X5 (Huawei U8800), Android 2.2.1 with Huawei tethering update.

Notes.

1. This has been happening for some time, but I don't think it was always the case.
2. It seems similar in principle to the black screen issue in other postings.
3. It only happens if I use the Android browser button on the home screen, and then select Opera from the list (I don't have a default browser selected, but wouldn't have thought that would make any difference.)
4. When this happens, Opera disappears from the recent apps list (long press the Home button.)
5. As a trial I added an Opera icon to the home page. If I go back to Opera by using the added Opera icon, or by selecting Opera from the recent apps list, this issue does not occur.

At last I found a workaround (I was getting a bit exasperated!), but it seems to be something that should be fixed.

Regards, Martin

Hi, welcome to Opera!

I'm not sure that this is a bug with Opera Mobile. I'd guess it's caused by how the browser button works and exactly what command it calls. (based on experience of how these things work with the desktop version on LInux)

Is there a reason you don't want to use the Opera icon? because doing so is always going to be quicker than going via the browser button.

Looking at my recent apps list: it seems to only list the app you requested - i.e. the browser button - regardless of what other apps that app then started. If you start Opera from the Opera icon then it appears.
It was a bright, cold day in April...

I use the windows button to just bring the running copy up again.

On the desktop versions, clicking the Opera icon will open a new Speed dial tab (the equivalent of the Android version's Home screen), it's intended to do that. Though you said "browser button" rather than "Opera button", so presumably that button is configured to start a search ...
