Making a closed Opera to open external link in a single new tab

When Opera is not currently running, and you click a link, e.g. in Skype, then Opera opens according to your setting in Ctrl+F12, General.
That means that you get
your last session tabs + the external link tab
or
speed dial tab + the external link tab
or
your home page tab + the external link tab
etc.

I tried to combine the startup setting with "resuse active tab" one, but still the result is the same.

Is it anyhow possible for external links to make Opera to open the external link in a lone tab?

I gave that link a try but my 'Preferences > General > Startup' does not have a 'Start without open tabs' option.

I am running Opera 11.52 on Windows XP Pro SP3.

You also need to follow the instructions in the first line of my linked post and enable the "Allow window with no tabs" option :

Tools > Preferences > Advanced > Tabs > Additional Tab Options: [x] Allow window with no tabs

In order to see the 'Start without open tabs' option you once have to close the Preference dialog and then reopen it again.

I did do the 'Allow window with no tabs' but it was the re-opening of the Preference dialog that I was missing.

It's all working okay now.

Thanks for the assist!
