Loosing new bookmarks between sessions

Here is the problem:

a) I created a few new bookmarks in OM.

b) I closed OM.

c) after about 5 minutes I started OM again and noticed that all my latest bookmarks are gone.

Initially I suspected Opera Link, but turning it off didn't resolve the issue.

Is there any bookmark limit? I have about 200 in several folders/subfolders.

I have lately noticed that when I create a new bookmark and try to save it, the hourglass won't show and the window won't revert to "bookmark tree mode", it's just stuck in a mode where you see "save" button in the left bottom corner. If I get out of this window by hitting Escape, the new bookmark can be seen in the bookmark tree and works ok. However, after you exit OM and then start it back, the bookmark won't be there.

My BlackBerry has 18 MB of "device memory" free, which is well above 10 MB commonly considered necessary for proper operation of this model (8830 WE).

Are you closing Opera Mini via the Menu -> Exit? On Java phones it's needed for saving the changes and exiting.

I always close OM using Menu - Exit. I also clear history and cookies (passwords are turned off permanently) and do the soft reset of my BlackBerry every evening. I'm a clean memory freak.

I have installed Bolt. It doesn't offer subfolders in bookmarks, there is no auto sort, you need to scroll through some pages horizontally, and the font style is weird. On the plus side, it renders WAP forum pages better, and you can backup bookmarks not only in the cloud but on the SD card as well.

I'd rather stay with OM if I manage to get the bookmarks issue fixed. I'll uninstall/reinstall OM and try to recover bookmarks from the server.

Isn't closing down to speed dial and selecting exit the same?

Also did you wait for a few minutes after saving password? Try turning on Opera Link and using the url opera:sync to force the syncing.

Thanks for the "force sync" tip (opera:sync), it might come in handy one day.

Last night I decided to give turning Opera Link regular way (from settings) one more chance. The first step (login to account) went ok, as usually, The second step, "synchronizing data" or something to that effect, would never complete. I actually left that window on and went to sleep. Seven hours later it was still there. Cancel button worked ok so I eventually canceled the process.

At this point I looked into Opera Link account and it turns out that some of the latest bookmarks that just wouldn't save in OM show properly there. I synced bookmarks with my Opera on desktop PC (to have a second backup, just in case)), then uninstalled OM from BlackBerry and installed it from scratch.

This resolved the problem. Now I was able to sync OM to Opera Link in about 20 seconds. OM works ok and there are no more issues with saving new bookmarks, despite the fact that I didn't delete any, so there are more bookmarks now than before.

The whole issue remains a mystery. I have seen something similar reported happening with earlier versions of OM due to corruption of "rms" file (?).
