Getting email notifications but I haven't enabled e-mail notifications

Last week I received a couple of email notifications for threads that I post in. Quite surprised as I have never enabled start e-mail notifications.
Ignored it as it was probably a glitch somewhere but today I received another two e-mails.

Is it possibly because of the following details?

The relevant post in the thread is http://my.opera.com/community/forums/findpost.pl?id=10466492
But the link to the thread in the email is http://my-beta.opera.com/lounge/forums/findpost.pl?id=10466492

Notice that "my-beta" bit in that address. confused

Seen another post with a "my-beta" link in it recently, maybe they are getting ready for another test?

That was the URL they used last time they had a public test of a forum update ... hmm, the address seems to lead to a valid page. No announcement though, so I'm not sure why. confused

Perhaps.

Yes that's what made me think it might be worth mentioning it. Don't know if the other ones that I received had the "my-beta" link in them or not as I just deleted them without looking at them closely.

No problem sgunhouse. thanks for the reply.

EspenAO, RobertJ or one of the other webmasters will no doubt post something on the issue eventually ...

Hopefully. smile
Just received another couple of emails today again and they both contain the "my-beta" link.

Actually being in "my-beta" domain isn't the only difference. See the bottom of the my-beta page.

Looks identical to me. Not that some people actually go to the Lounge group to read the forums - I normally don't. If your URL has "community" in it, you don't get a list of moderators; if it has "lounge" (or some other group) then you get a list of moderators for that group. Hint: akh is only a mod for the lounge group, not for the Opera community.

I've been getting these randomly for about 2 weeks now (maybe once every other day). Doesn't seem to be any pattern to it.

Ah, that was why! I didn't know that. Thanks for the head up, Steve. smile

That's much the same for me.
I can get a couple of them then none for a few days, then one and none for a few days, then a couple again.

10 emails arrived this morning, none of them contain the "my-beta" link this time.
Still shouldn't be getting sent any of them though.

Just recieved another one so went to my subscriptions and I now had the option to "stop e-mail notifications", whereas before that it was at "start email notifications". confused I have selected to stop them, don't know how/why that changed though.

Same here - they're getting more frequent. And none of the recent ones refer to my-beta.opera.com.

Also, unlike Luxor my subscriptions screen still only gives me the option to Start Email Notifications

Just checked my setting to make sure it was still showing the option to Start Email Notifications after I changed it back. It is smile

Ok, this has resumed today with a vengeance - I have 35 emails in the last twelve hours saying someone's commented. And now I check, the email subscriptions option has turned itself on when I've not even been near here. I have turned it off now, let's see if it spontaneously turns itself back on.
