Problems with Opera Voice

Voice is acting very temperamentally on my computer (XP32 SP3), giving me "sorry I did not understand" 90% of the time, apparently acknowledging but doing nothing 9% of the time, and actually performing the command 1% of the time. I know my accent's not incomprehensible, I tried different volumes, different tones of voice, speaking slower or faster, different microphones (3 different ones), the same microphone plugged into different ports, different pitches ranging from Bobcat Goldthwaite whine to Captain Picard bass, I don't understand!

Apart from not recognise it my commands it also does other funny stuff, like refusing to change to a different profile when I change it in options, or randomly disabling itself without me telling it.

The really annoying thing is that it used to work perfectly up until a year ago or so - then after one particular update (don't remember which one) it just started doing all these annoying things I described. It's like it developed sentience and decided it doesn't like me and it's going to drive me mad!
