Opera not working on most sites (XP)

Recently, my Opera browser on my netbook just doesn't work with many sites. My Google home page doesn't load at all. Google Maps loads as if my netbook were a mobile phone. Buttons on most sites don't function. I didn't have the latest version of Opera, so I uninstalled the version I had and installed 11.51 . This has not helped at all. I'm not having these problems with Internet Explorer.

I would appreciate any help to avoid reverting to IE!

I found the problem: Javascript had been disabled, although I have no idea how that happened.

Might be time to do some malware scans.

Do you have turbo enabled? (See the 4th button button on the status bar)

If you had turbo enabled before and didn't remove your profile after you uninstalled Opera, it'd still be enabled after installing 11.51.

I have experienced the same. Suddenly many JavaScript based tools disappear on some tabs on Opera 11.52 for Windows XP. For example here on forum comments 'Quick Quote' no longer works. And this may happen right in the middle of the session. Only way to fix it is close the non-working tab or restart browser. Trying to toggle site preferences for JavaScript does not help.

I have Turbo disabled all the time.

I think I found the reason that disabled the JavaScripts for me. I have used 'Textarea Backup Localstore' extension and if I select 'Stop executing scripts' to stop opening every damn confirmation on pages with multiple forms, then of course it is applied to all scripts.
