Playback for H.264

Hi,

I've followed the guide for installing the libraries.
So under I can see both of .so
files: libgstx264.so and libx264.so. But I still unable
to see the video.
For the test I'm using this link:
http://www.w3schools.com/html5/tryit.asp?filename=tryhtml5_video_bear
I'm using latest TV simulator (3.1), and libraries are of following
versions:
- gstreamer0.10-x264_0.10.17-0.0_i386
- libx264-112_0.svn20110115-0.0_i386

Is there logs I can check? Can you confirm that the libraries version
and setup is correct?

Thanks,
Alexey

You mentioned that you see libx264.so but you should see libx264.so.112. You should copy libx264.so.112 to the plugins folder.

I also followed the guide for installing the media libraries and I both have a libx264.so and a libx264.so.112 in my plugins-folder, but the videos (section "video swapping / scaling") of the follwing link still aren't appearing!

HbbTV is not supported yet hence you may have problems with that link.

Ok, I see... but there must be a way to play a video or audio file, right? Do you also have a link with an example for the case?

...but http://www.w3schools.com/html5/tryit.asp?filename=tryhtml5_video_bear works for you? From your previous post I understood that you had problem with http://itv.mit-xperts.com/hbbtvtest/index.php only. Both portals test different functionalities.

It's only the sound I can hear, but the video is just black.

Yes, exactly, sound only and video - is black.

Is there a way to diagnose the issue - logs etc?

I will try to reproduce that problem firstly - it would be the best for me to have it also on my machine. Could you tell me yet your operating system type and version of VirtualBox? Probably that are irrelevant information but just in case it's better to know...

It's Ubuntu 10.04, and VirtualBox is 4.1.4

Any news on this one?
Is there a way for enabling some extra logs/debug info myself?

I've managed to reproduce and fix it. In this week we should release new build with (among other things) the fix. For the time being you should have no problems with watching e.g. ogg content instead.

That's good news! Would you please respond to this topic when the new build has been released? A direct link would be also nice then! wink

Hi

I'm trying to download the libraries mentioned by the OP within the emulator but keep getting an error popup saying "Downloads are not supported". How do I install these popups so that I can test out video playback?

@bedrocktv:

The libraries should be downloaded on your computer first, then copied to your shared "plugins" directory. The original instructions were not clear about this, so I've updated them:

Thanks for pointing this out.

Is it possible to have h.264 playback on standard Opera? my system is FreeBSD with gstreamer and all necessary plugins, but Opera does not want to play h.264 videos although backend can do it. vimeo.com and other html5 websites using h264 are unaccessible :-(
