It varies, right now is pretty typical, 28

Customized 8.5 -- 3 windows, 15 pages.
Opera 9.0 TP1 -- 2 windows, 8 pages.
Opera 6.06 --- 1 window, 5 pages.

I also have a plain vanilla copy of 8.5 that is opened occasionally to look at the UI.

I try to keep it under 5, unless I am working on something that requires more. The equilibrium is 4, I'd say.

I can see sense for many pages for datamining. I mean, that anyone can't handle and remember generally for more than 10 pages. If I need any page, I can find it in the trash icon, or in the history. If I reach the number 10 of pages, I generally click my "Close but active" button.

100+ is my work config. (Opera eats 120-130 MB of memory, sometimes start leaking, thought).
At home I have 10-20 when just surfing, 20-50 when I start working...

Generally I keep all my research pages open for each individual project, plus chat & forums, typically 50 or so, occasionally drops to 30. Always on multiple rows - as much as about half my screen before I feel the need to clean up. very occasionally, I feel the need to open a separate window for my mail, because it gets a little bit too small with half my screen devoted to tabs on 1024x768.

Of course if Herman was to say his ... well over 100. I suspect I have seen as much as 200 on his setup. high res screen, tabs on the left, wrap to multiple rows. sheesh.

Ah, so that is why you use ssr at all times, because 50% of your screen is tabs, and most of the rest are buttons?

I am usually at under 10 pages at any given time. That is about how much I can multitask. The typical number of open pages is 5.

geez! I use a average of 2~3...

Thursday, 10. November 2005, 00:50:15

It varies quite a bit, but I'm almost always above 10 tabs and over 20 a lot of time, so I answered 20-50. I do go above 50 at times, but not enough to vote higher

Damn, I'd go nuts with that many tabs on such a low resolution :eyes:
Then again, I sometimes feel a little cramped on my lonesome 1600*1200 screen and want more screen space :left:

That is why I open more windows, to keep the clutter down and related pages together.

If I have more than ten pages open in one window, and I do open 50 plus on occasion, I am usually working through them reading and closing.

I average 1. Two when reading mail, 3 when replying. On very rare occasions 4-5.

If I were into multiple pages, I'd do like Saddle Magic and have several windows open, each with a manageable number of tabs.

Minimum of 7:
- Four IRC
- One Mail
- Two Web

As I work, the number of Web pages can range from two to ten or more very easily. I like keeping the total under ten as much as possible though.

Thursday, 10. November 2005, 17:40:24

I usually have on average of 5-7 tabs open at a time. But when I have too many tabs open and it becomes hard to see the title and/or icon of the tab, I open a new browser window.

I'd say the average for me is about 3 to 5. I usually browse a little, then close everything, and then come back when I can think of something I forgot to view. I don't just sit down at my PC and immediately think of 100 websites I want to visit.

I am usually on the lower end of 10-20 tabs open during a session. Closer to the end of a session, though, it's not uncommon for me to have up to 20 open.

depends on the Internet conection at home with dial-up more tabs because have to wait to load for a page and can view a other in that time. In School with DSL not so much windows a once because i can work trough a web page and close it. I have normaly always open:
1-2 IRC Windows
1 Wikipedia (in Schoo)
1 My Blog to fastly blog things
1 Note Window
3-5 Web Pages

Instead of bookmarking I just leave the page there, so they build up. Saves time as they're all ready to use the instant I start up Opera. I have 13 open right now.

No tab bar, I bind a key to pop up a list of the currently open pages, then select one from there. Much better than the tab bar which gets too small at a mere 7ish pages.

Me, too. I regularly use 24 of the roughly 45 pages I have in my main session, including a mail and 3 chat pages. The rest are bookmark substitutes, for stuff to do someday. I like in-your-face one click (page bar) instead of several (bookmarks). The tab bar icons help me keep track of which is which. 1280x1024 resolution.

I also heavily use sessions, for groups of stuff used/saved at certain times of day, or categories of pages like church/genealogy.

I've found that Opera bogs down my 256Mb system, somewhere around 80-100 pages.

Depends on the skin . With the standard thing i try to keep < 10 .
With breeze its no limit
Now this gives me a idea , how abt a button that changes to minimalistic skin, and changes wrapping to to multiple row .
Or even better whenever the number of tabs reaches a desired level say, 15-20 tabs, the setup changes automatically  . For now i'll try to come up with a button.

My avg is 5-10 while doing my data searches on family stuff. Otherwise just 1-3 at the most.

Saturday, 7. January 2006, 14:09:42

I was used to have more than 20 open, but since I started using Gentoo on my computer, Opera is crashing TOO often, and this tends to happen when there are more tabs open.

Monday, 9. January 2006, 12:23:46

I just have a habbit of opening all links in a new page always even when I dont have to and never close pages so gets to 30+, until I close all but active.

heh. As I am reading these latest additions to this thread, I have 189 tabs open (in three windows). 94 of them are extremely temporary (Opera Community Forums threads that I will read and close over the next 10-20 minutes).
