Please fix Opera's RAM cache

Among all browsers (with different engines) I have tested, Opera's RAM cache performs the worst.
Disable disk cache, surf for a while and see how poor history navigation works.
Opera often can't keep the last visited site in RAM. Mostly images get reloaded from the server if you navigate one step back.
Opera's 9.64 RAM cache wasn't performing well either (so it is not a recent bug, rather a shortcoming by design) but since it got worse.

Maybe encreasing the RAM cache capacity (automatically based on the total amount of RAM available) would solve the problem.
However I'm no programmer, just wish Opera's RAM cache could perform as well as other browsers do.

Every morning a lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death.
It doesn't matter whether you are a lion or a gazelle: when the sun comes up, you'd better be running.

I second this. I like using Opera but the cache function is woeful. It should be simple - if there's a version of an image or content in ram or on the disk then don't download it again, unless you specifically tell it to. But Opera doesn't seem to do this simple function of a browser. Why? While Opera devs are focusing on the sexy stuff simple basic functions like this are being left behind.

What's weird is the fact that it does *not* seem to respect Disk Cache settings. If I set it to anything *BUT* none, then it will surely grow without bounds. Leaving it to the default of 20MB have led to disk cache bloat well over 50MB before, so now I just leave it *off*... But then, since Opera's RAM cache seems to be wonky (broken, even?), it doesn't cache pages in RAM and thus every page has to be reloaded... *sigh*. Lesser of the two evils, I suppose...

Might be due to increased JS usage. Play with this setting: opera:config#UserPrefs|HistoryNavigationMode

@Frenzie

Definitively not related to JS usage. BTW, I have most of the time JS disabled.
History navigation mode has as well nothing to do with the poor RAM cache performance.

TripleDude is exagerating. RAM cache is working at some degree but has by far the worst performance compared with other browser engines I've tested. Working with disk cache disabled is a PITA.
