moving mail to a folder

I am using Opera email.
There is no command to move a selected message to a folder. Moving mail to a folder using drag and drop seldom works. When it does, if I then delete the message from the input mail window it generally also erases the message that did sometimes get moved to a folder.
What are the correct, specific steps to follow to always move an input or a sent message to a folder?
Thanks
David Bailey

First note that no email is ever moved in Opera Mail. Opera works slightly different than other email clients. See the link in my signature to learn more.

Short version: In Opera, every email exists precisely once. If you drag and drop an email to a label (not a folder!), the email is also shown there. It was not moved there, and there is no copy. What you see in the label and in Received is the identical email. If you delete it in one instance, it's also gone in the other. That's why it's called 'label' and not 'folder'

If you want labels to behave like folders, go ahead and edit the properties of the label, and in "Options" choose "hide from other views". This will make the message not show in those views/labels/filters that do not have "show hidden" active in the view options accessible through the view button above the message list.

As I said, this was the short version. If you're only used to folder-like systems, it may seem a bit strange. But it's actually much easier to use than a folder based system with copies and such once you use it a bit.

Are you using IMAP or POP?

If you're using IMAP, under the you@example.com access point for the account in the mail panel, drag the message from the IMAP folder it's in to the IMAP folder you want to move it to. Use ctrl + drag to copy instead. You can use cut/copy and paste in the corresponding message lists for the IMAP folders.

It is not true sad At least on my 11.52 for LInux.
Tried with ctrl, with shift and without - drag-n-drop copies mail to folder.
And no there is no labels - I'm using pure IMAP folders.
