How to retain the text to be searched?
Opera 11.51, windows, open in new tab:After I input some text for search, for example by google, the system can open the search result page in a new tab, it's OK. However, in the new tab I might want to search the original text with a new search engine, e.g., yahoo, but the text in the search bar disappeared. How to fix this?
Thanks.

Each tab retains its own search history, so you can't see your search string in the search bar when you open a new tab.
To (re)use your search string with a different search engine you can
a) Use your current tab for the search, i.e. don't open a new tab (Preferences>Advanced>Tabs>Reuse current tab)
b) If you did open a new tab, go back to the tab from where you initiated the search. The search string should still be visible in the search bar.
c) Forget the search bar and use the address bar (e.g. input "g searchstring" for a Google search). The address bar history is retained independent from the tabs, so it can be accessed from any tab and is saved when you close Opera. To reuse a previous search string do not access the address bar history with the famous drop-down button (provided you have enabled it) because you won't be able to edit the entry. Instead use your keyboard: Set focus to the address bar (F8 or mouseclick), press down-arrow key and select your search string, but don't press Enter. You should see now your search string in the address bar with a blinking text cursor, so you can edit the text, precede it with a different keyword for the search engine of your choice and hit Enter to start a new search.
