Staggered speeddial updating

Is it possible to implement staggered speeddial updating, as in Opera Mobile? When I try to update the whole speeddial, Opera uses very much RAM (and SWAP) and the system becomes totally irresponsible until Opera finishes updating. It would be better to update the speeddial cells sequentially, but not simultaneously.
