Request/Suggestion :: Video File Converter
There are several add-ons that allows one to download video files from Youtube and other sites, but they only come as the files .FLV or .MP4, neither in which will play in Windows Media Player, though would play in VLC Player. Firefox had an add-on where you could convert video files from those two files to something like .AVI and such that you could play in your Windows Media Player and Windows Movie Maker, though nowadays, Firefox has been falling below standards on their speed and such. I hope that I'm not the only one that would like to see an add-on such as this!Would a Video File Converter be Useful?

1) as I need a codec pack for windows media player to work decently anyhow (watching much mkv-s) it does not bring any real added value for me.
2) not really the job of a browser to do video transcoding.

You could edit the flv type in Opera and use "open with other application" to pass the URI for the file to a script that downloads the file with wget or curl and pipes it to ffmpeg to convert it as it's downloaded. But, I'd just download the flv file and then convert it with ffmpeg afterwards.
I don't support Opera doing any transcoding. But, I would support an async download function for extensions that calls a callback function when the file is completely downloaded. Then, I'd also support some type of ShellExecute command where the extension could pass the path to the file to a script.
