Is are my blogs disappeared?

While I was absent from the web, my blogs have disappeared at the Opera:
http://my.opera.com/diamant-art/blog/
http://my.opera.com/Tokmak-city/blog/
http://my.opera.com/Gay-Sweet/blog/
I thought that Opera - quite stable and adequate resources. It is this factor was decisive for the placement of my blogs here.

Seems like a temporary issue with all my.opera blogs, although it's been happening often recently. Maybe they're changing servers or upgrading software or something. Give it some time.

It's not affecting all blogs, but a few "selected" with special content. Working on it. Hopefully a fix will be there in a couple of hours. Thanks for your patience!

I believe we have to decided to remove html in the about field, since it's an about field.

Thank you for replying, Nicomen! smile
OK. In the section "About Me" is clear. Tell me, will stay there the previous tag in the html for blogs? Sometimes the blogger needs to be done under the illustration caption in smaller type gray color or display subtitle in large type in red, for example. For a blog it is a necessary function. Using fonts in different sizes, colors - it is often zachenie for bloggers.
Thank you. smile

You are actually right! This is a nasty bug. Will look at it in the morning, in the meantine you can use:

<font size="3"></font> =>
<font color="red"></font> =>
<font face="arial"></font> =>

Sorry about that!

Very nice. I am glad that the problem is solved and the bug will be fixed. I have found the correct choice of blog hosting services - at the moment do not see any other alternative my.opera.
I will keep in mind the possibility of using BB-code.

Thank you for your work and attention to users. cheers

Do you have any idea how much trouble that causes to moderators at 365 Photos and Shoot & Tell? furious Now we have to find another way to implement rules with links cry

Indeed, that's what we have to do. However, at 365 Photos moderators have used to sticky almost anything new. Then this most important post may get buried under other stickies. So, now I have to get all other mods informed and ask if it is alright if we for now on have only this one sticky post.

Then the other problem is that there can be god knows how many instances around where people are advised to see the rules on About page. Well, of course we will put there on About page some advice to go and find the rules on blog front page. But all together you failed to inform and warn users about this and caused extra trouble to us.

But surely we will find a satisfying way to solve all the inconvenience caused by this.

Okay, we have now moved the rules to blog posts at '365 Photos' and 'Shoot & Tell' groups. However, it really is not good because now we still have to advice newbies to visit about page where's the 'join to group' button. We also can't use the unformatted rules list for groups because at east the links for additional instructions is really must have on those groups.

Question: Can we have 'join to group' link/button elsewhere? For example on same post where we now have the rules.

By mark up field, do you mean how there is no longer any formatting (I know nothing about IT, so I have no idea what mark up means)
http://my.opera.com/galadriel/about/
My about page was once formatted into a great thing called PARAGRAPHS. Now it makes me look like I am a 13 year kindergarten drop out who doesn't know about paragraphs. Will this be fixed? Oh and all my code in there has now appeared. Looks very unprofessional!

But why? So people can visit, go to the 'about' page to read a bit about us and then think we do not know how to write in paragraphs?
Why change something that wasn't broken? Was it broken? I am confused.

Have now edited my About page, so that the huge paragraph of text is now somewhat smaller.

If you have seen the amounts of markup with lots and lots of nothing to do with about, you would maybe agree that using the about field to write short about yourself is a good turn.

It was broken. Allowing formatting where it shouldn't be allowed only opens up new attack vectors for spammers.

Okay. You being the programmer and me knowing nothing about coding, I'll go along with that, as well as with haavard's observation that "Allowing formatting where it shouldn't be allowed only opens up new attack vectors for spammers".

I rest my case cool

I realise it might be annoying for some people using it in a "nice" manner.

I think however we could rather look into the real wishes/needs and see what one can do about that. For instance for the 365 case. It seems the existing "Rules" form is not good enough. Maybe Rules should be more extensible, allowing links or similar, or maybe one should be able to say have a menu entry that links to a specific blog entry.

At least please allow the basic markup like line break, font, font size, font colour, align centre & justify, and bold, italic & underline.

I have treated you with respect, nicoman. I expect the same in return.

Bigger font size is for subheadings such as "Friends policy"

Font colours are for highlighting matters of importance. For example New Zealand suffered a deadly earthquake earlier the year. I had a link to the Red Cross appeal for the disaster relief and used a different font colour for emphasis.

Please have a look at the way the 365 rules are currently implemented: http://my.opera.com/365/blog/2011/10/14/welcome-to-365-photos

There are need for:
1) Link to older rules
2) Links to other languages
3) Links to recommendations
4) Some last words after list of rules
5) Possible some bold and colored text although, upper case letters can be used as well to emphasize point of importance.

However, we currently try to find out if non-members see the 'join to group' button on blog margin. If they do, then we can abandon the about page completely at 365 and S&T. Then there also would be one item less on menu.

EDIT: Here's a tip for everyone to do the same on personal blog pages. Disable about page, make blog as default, and put sticky post on your blog where you tell about yourself. You can also use links page to create and show a "additional personal menu" on margin and put link to your own about there.

lol All seriousness aside, what would stop a stealth spammer from doing just that? In addition to setting up "dummy" accounts - so that when you ban one he/she just fires up the next one.
Also, every account has to have a unique email address, right? rolleyes These spammers have way too much time on their hands. Or do they... ummm... automate that, also.
