What operating system do you have? And what are your hardware specs?

I have Opera 11.51 running on an old computer with Windows XP SP3, Pentium II CPU and 400MHz, 256MB Ram.
I can use everything except YouTube (Flash Player works - but only with a low framerate).
Overall it seems to be a little bit faster than Internet Explorer 8.

I am having all manner of problems with Opera at the moment, not responding, hanging, not loading pages it is really getting annoying. I love my Opera browser but I really am being put through the mill to the point I have started using Chrome. This is not good. I have tried downgrading but then it took over an hour to get Opera to place itself in c:\user\appdata\roaming\Opera. This is driving me nuts, everything worked beautifully till 11.52.

Win 7 64bit
AMD Phenom 555 dual core BE
8Gb Corsair 1866 ddr3
PNY460 1Gb
2TB of HD
Samsung 22" + Dell 19" Monitors

I have been a big addict of Opera since it was made freely available, what 15 years or so now? Please help if you can people, this is killing me.

P.S. My OS has only just been installed, there are no trojan/viruses and I do not download anything going. I run Avast and Super Anti Spyware, they have both been used to check for naughties. I even used search and destroy and nothing has been found.

Hi, I'm not an expert, but what first comes to my mind is trying to switch off the antivirus software to check if it isn't causing problems. What about other applications, are they working all right? For me, it could also look like some hardware related issues, for example with an HDD.
But this is just a guess.
