who is checking my cookies?

The Issue:
I want to know (and preferably control) who is checking (not setting!) for cookies on my client. This can't be done without the browsers help.

The Wish:
I am looking for a feature that blocks a server from checking it's cookies when I am not explicitly on it's page - all third party servers.

The Details:
I have for example a social network account like Facebook that places a permanent cookie on my client that allows FB to recognize me for an easy login. (that's OK)
Many news-sites have links to FB, so that I can easily inform my community about my interests.
Usually the news page load logos and other stuff directly from FB so that they (FB) are allowed to check their own cookies on my client for an activated FB account. For that reason they don't set cookies, they just check.
If I have an active account FB sees where I am, if not they don't bother me

The Reason Behind:
I am looking for a function or a way to generally prevent third websites to place OR CHECK the own cookies when they are 3rd-party-servers.
I am fine, when I am in FB and actively contribute information to my friends, but I don't want FB to trace all my other non-FB-activities.
With that kind of feature in place, tracker cookies that work with web bugs etc. would be useless, since the "doubleclicks" & Co are always third party servers.

The Awkward Way:
I use an different browser for social networking (don't want that)
I use a sandboxed approach that the automatically resets the browser (which does not help when I am in the same session and had started FB earlier) (don't want that either)

Thanks in advance

(OK - maybe my request is a little long and redundant and you got the point after the first sentence, but I hope that the potential side effects are now more obvious)
(@editors: if this is not the right forum for this issue, please relocate me to a better place)

A Cookie is only sent to the domain specified by the server (which have to be a member of that domain) setting the cookie, e.g. A cookie for all servers in the facebook.com domain can only be set by a server in the facebook.com domain.

For more about cookies see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Http_cookie

In the cookie manager (Menu>Settings>Preferences>Advanced>Cookies>Manage Cookies) you can see, edit, and search a list of all cookie registered by your installation.

It is also possible to change cookie preferences in Menu>Settings>Preferences>Advanced>Cookies or the site specific preferences.

To block all sending and setting of thirdparty cookies you need to set opera:config#UserPrefs|EnableCookies to 1; Please note that this can break a number of websites that require third party cookies to work.
Sincerely,
