Opera Mini partnership with Vodafone
I installed Opera Mini on my Android phone and used it for a while on WiFi.What I don't like is the fact that as soon as I activated the data plan on my Vodafone Romania SIM card, and started using Mini on 3G, "they" replaced the speed dial pages and bookmarks with Romania/Vodafone specific ones.
Now I understand that Vodafone Romania is heavily promoting Opera Mini for internet access with pre- and post-pay cards. And probably Opera gets payed for setting those links. But replacing my speed-dials after I installed Mini from opera.com and not through Vodafone's SMS link is obnoxious to say the least.
PS: I expect the same happens for other countries, as I see the Czechs get a generic m.opera.com link to download their Mini.

And another thing. On low-end devices, Opera offers Vodafone Romania users a branded version 4.2 (circa 2008) instead of the latest 4.4 which “opens up new possibilities for your network operator to integrate services like free Opera Mini browsing to certain sites, and hopefully it makes it easier to connect”.
Note that I didn’t find it in the same folder, since it was named “Internet” and not “Opera Mini”, and had a different Vendor, so I was prompted for a folder.
The only visible advantage of that 4.2 is a speed-dial-like arrangement of Vodafone's bookmarks. No sign of Vodafone’s Opera Mini widgets, either. Also, Mini’s Feeds feature returns a “Vodafone blocked this content”-type message, so that’s not accessible either.
