serious opera bug when crashing during download

hello

there is a serious bug that opera needs to deal with it ASAP

when we download a file and opera crashes, there is no evidence that will notify/remind us to re-download the file again, there is no evidence about the url of the file, etc

so, we miss files that we wanted to download

thanks

By "crashing", if you mean Opera fails catastrophically and either locks up or dumps you out to the OS, I would presume that the same rule of thumb should apply to Opera as to any other software in a similar situation: simply assume whatever it was doing at the time it crashed to be corrupted or incomplete, unless direct verification of the results of the operation proves it was in fact successful. Put another way, if Opera "crashes" during a download in a visible way, take the crash itself as evidence the download failed as well - unless you can prove otherwise.

However, perhaps you mean Opera is failing in some way short of visibly locking up or dumping out to the OS. If so, please give a better description of the nature of the Opera failure. Also, it's a little unclear what you mean about the "url of the file" (which have file names, not url's), unless you are referring to the website URL from which a file is being downloaded.
Opera 12.14u (1738), 11.52 (1100) & 10.63 (3576) running on various Windows systems from Win7-64 down through KernelEx4-modified Win98FE (proof that reports of Win98's demise are greatly exaggerated).

not really

just make this test:
1) download a really big file, like UBUNTU
http://www.ubuntu.com/download/ubuntu/download

2) while it is downloading, kill your opera process

3) then restart opera and choose that you want to fully restore your previous session

4) the problem/bug is that:
a) the tab of the url http://www.domain.com/file.ext will not appear
b) the file will not appear in the download manager

PS: I have portable Opera

I download about 6 Mbytes then forcibly closed Opera with Ctrl Alt Delete.

On restarting I continued from last time. The download page was loaded, and the transfer was listed in my transfers tab. The resume button worked as expected.

before forcibly closing Opera, did you open the download link of the file in a new tab?

No. I opened the download page, clicked where it says "Start Download" to download the file, and saved it to my documents when the save file dialogue appeared.. I checked the Transfers tab to see that it was downloading, then terminated Opera.
