DIRECTV: "Please upgrade to a modern browser."

What a rude thing to say! These guys have made me mad twice today..

Safari, Chrome, IE8 and Firefox are 'Modern' I guess. Masking and changing browser ID does no good here, although Opera works just fine. Only problem is the huge banner telling you your browser is "no longer supported" (as if they did at one time). I tried blocking content on it, but that didn't work. But have no fear, the fix is here:

In your user CSS folder (in my case C:\Program Files\Opera\styles\user\, or in your case maybe look at opera:config#UserPrefs|LocalCSSFile to see where), create directv.css and make it say this:
#contingency_browser_update {
      display: none;
  }

Then on that web page, right-click, edit site preferences, display, my style sheet, and browse for that directv.css file. Then reload the page, and ta-da!

I guess some people may want to put that snippet directly into their user.css file, and that should work, too, I would think.

Maybe that's why Opera calls is Hypocritical code - http://my.opera.com/chooseopera/blog/2011/10/17/hypocritical-code lol

And thanks for the fix, I might refer someone to you looking for a way to remove that DIRECTV banner.
Windows 7 SP1 x86 edition and Windows XP Service Pack 3.
