RSS on Opera link

Sometimes I jump between a couple computers during the day, but I use RSS to keep up with work stuff. I would absolutely love if Opera link could keep track of my rss feeds so I could get my feeds on different computers and wouldnt come back to hundreds of updates on my other computer.

There simply isn't a better RSS reader in my opinion, and having something like this "in the cloud" would be awesome. I think it would take some people away from google reader too

Sync the subscription list & last checked/downloaded for each subscription. This way when messages downloaded from before the last check date/time can be automatically marked read after they're downloaded; leaving only messages from after the last checked/downloaded time as marked un-read.

keep track of it would be a best option, but at least sync what RSS feeds that im subscribed, would be cool.

Yup, it's time for Opera to do something to differentiate themselves. I thought by now there would be an RSS feed reader app available for chrome that would do all of this, but there's nothing. Everyones headed away from FF and IE to chrome, so opera could pick up some users who are sick them

I'd like to see it sync to Opera Mini and Mobile, too. I use Opera on every device I have, not just full computers.

+1 for sure. This would definitely attract users.

For me it's the most important updating. I use opera and opera next with 2 computers. It's very boring to check all RSS!

why not use an online rss aggregator like google reader portal.opera.com wink?

because the rss reader built into opera pulls down feeds almost immediately after they're posted. I need high speed for my reader

I do not need the high speed updating, but I feel that Opera's (Opera Mini's?) option to disregard all styling in RSS feeds makes loading faster, especially on a cell phone. I admit my smartphone is old as crap (HTC Dream ftw), and that I only use EDGE due to 3G battery life issues (radio from 2006 ftl), but I know there's a lot of people who use Opera Mini on stupidphones, and I'm sure they'd greatly appreciate it. Opera Mini *is* the number one mobile browser, after all. wink

RSS in Opera Link would permit users to add RSS feeds in their desktop browser, which probably loads much faster, then sync it to their phone and read it there on the go.

Yes, Google Reader works, and I use it already, but:
  1. The Google Reader interface used with Opera Mini is lacking, and not all phones have good enough browsers to use that interface properly.
  2. The Google Reader web interface used with other mobile browsers is uncompressed, and with data caps being implemented by basically every carrier, Opera Turbo would greatly help with data usage. Also see next item.
  3. For people like me who only use 2G, Google Reader can be rather slow, what with having to download stylesheets, promotional images, etc, all uncompressed. Opera Turbo would *really* help this.
  4. The ability to disregard all styling can make some RSS feeds much easier to read.
  5. Some RSS feeds have ads. On stupidphones and smartphones that only use 2G, eliminating ads can save loading time. Opera Mini does a very good job of that.
  6. Some people distrust Google because of their somewhat aggressive desire to index all of the world's information. They've stepped on people's toes (and a lot more), with Buzz, somewhat with Google+, a lot with the YouTube / Google integration, the wifi network fiasco with Street View... The list goes on. Keeping their subscribed feeds someplace else that still syncs, like Opera Link, would help attract these people, whether it actually improves their security or not.

Hopefully this is a bit more convincing. ^_^

because it's the cloud service and that's probably main reason of gr popularity

Because it's a cloud service, and thus accessible from all machines with an internet connection, with all changes automatically saved. It's the same reason IMAP is so superior to POP3: everything syncs between all machines.

To draw an analogy: Google Reader is webmail / IMAP. Newsfeeds, as they are now in Opera, are POP3.

If Opera provides more accessible Opera by a great extension API, a group of developers can do this. Google Reader is really boring.

Come on Opera, stop letting chrome take the lead in Browser share growth! Sadly if there were an app for chrome that allowed this with the same speed of Opera's RSS updating I would switch in a second. I absolutely love opera, but it's the RSS reader that has made me stick to it since I first got it on version 6.

I'm really eager to see all my RSS feeds synced across 3 computers and a mobile phone!

There are some sites that aggregate RSS but I'm soooo in love with Opera's RSS reader!!!

I totally agree on this. One of the reason why I use Opera is because of the simplicity of its RSS reader. Would love to see a Opera Link to sync all my feeds.

I fully agree that RSS feeds in Opera Link (including support in Opera Mini) would be excellent. But at the same time, I realize that maintaining the feed status in the cloud is troublesome with the limited quota.

I badly need this feature. I'm reading something like 400-500 news a day using RSS on PC, MAC iPhone and Android tablet, and to keep the read in sync is VERY important for me. Integration with GoogleReader is also a must, but please, at least cloud sync using OperaLink, so I can finally use Opera to read and manage all my RSS feeds and have everything in sync. Is like the email client from Opera, who is synchronizing with my google account and I have permanently control of what I read and what not on various devices. I read my email from PC, Mac, iPhone, Android tablet! These days a lot of peoples have more than one PC or phone, and to have EVERYTHING in sync is becoming essential.

I just had a problem with my machine and had to subscribe all my feeds manually again, i started using google reader (just in case), but it sucks so i'm still using Opera to manage my feeds because it is way better than any other desktop reader i tested before (and have tested tons), but i want synchronization now! =P

Trough Opera Link or integrating Google Reader, i don't really care, but i'll really appreciate the synch option.

I can't believe this haven't been implemented in any way yet. The suggestion has been up here for ages. I really like the opera RSS-feed (though I'm not a big fan of having it integrated with the mail).

Seeing I'm using Opera on both my computer and my mobile devices with Opera Mini and Opera Mobile i would really love to be able to reach the same feeds from different devices. Also It's a bitch when i have to Subscribe to every feed again if something crashes or i have to make a reinstall or anything.

Do this. Come on Opera, it's very simple. You don't even need to remember which feeds were read and/or deleted, just save the feed URL.

Yes! Currently i'm using Google Reader as a "backup", so when i'm subscribing to a new feed, i do it both in Opera and in Google Reader. That way, if I will have to reinstall Opera, i could just export feeds from Reader

Same disappointment here. Sync RSS is the most needed feature for me.
