Hello World won't run or install

Hi,

I have the latest version of Opera. I'm trying to create my first widget. I'm using the 'Hello World' example from here:
http://dev.opera.com/articles/view/creating-your-first-opera-widget/

I create two files:

config.xml:
<?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>
<widget>
<widgetname>Hello World!</widgetname>
<description>Demo widget from the Hello World tutorial.</description>
<width>440</width>
<height>200</height>
<author>
<name>John Doe</name>
<email>john.doe@example.com</email>
<link>http://acme-widget.example.com&lt;/link&gt;
<organization>Acme Examples, Inc.</organization>
</author>
<id>
<host>example.com</host>
<name>HelloWorld</name>
<revised>2008-01</revised>
</id>
</widget>

index.html:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<title>Hello World!</title>
</head>
<body>
<p>Hello World!</p>
</body>
</html>

I zip the two files together using Winzip. I rename the archive to: Hello World.wgt. I see an icon of a gear show up in the directory listing.

However, when I drop the icon onto a blank page nothing happens. Also, when I right-clicked the file I saw an error message saying the widget wasn't well formed. Subsequent attempts to right-click and get the error message don't work; it just acts like I didn't click anything.

I delete the widget and build it again the same way. This time I change the name to HelloWorld.wgt. I can't get it to run, to install. I can't drop it into an empty Opera window and have it do anything.

btw, I have successfully downloaded and installed two widgets from the Opera repository.

Does anyone have an idea about what is stopping me from running a Hello World widget? Thanks.

update: I didn't realize it, but there is an error dialog that says:

"The location c:\inetpub\wwwroot\Opera\HelloWorld.wgt is invalid or there is not a valid widget file."

Hmm....the location is fine. Why wouldn't it be a valid widget file? Any ideas?

thanks,

I got it to work. I retyped both files on the theory that I picked up a stray character. Also, I built the zip file a different way, making sure that it didn't launch the extract dialogue. It now works as expected.

Hi,

I have created and published an Opera Widget called Mahjong using my developer name JuliusOpra:
http://widgets.opera.com/widget/27182/1.0/

I am a little concerned as to the length of time for approval. I created this Opera Widget on Friday 7th October 2011, to-date I have received no correspondence, and my Widget has still not been approved.

Please can this matter be given the expediency and efficiency that it deserves, and provision made for my Opera Widget to receive appropriate approval.

I am deeply enthusiastic about developing Opera Widgets, I believe that this offers developers an immense opportunity to hit the ground running in the provision of excellent, well crafted, unique Apps for the Opera community, enabling the fastest web browsing community another step forward in their quest for number one dominance of the web browsing market.

Thank You in advance.

Please contact me directly on my mobile, ph. 0794 057 8423, if you have further questions.

I look forward to your response.

Regards

Well The reason for the Multiple Posts is to illicit response!

I have, to date received NOTHING from Opera Support Team, whom quite frankly seem to have forgotten me!

What Should I do?
