[1116] General HWA cleanup
New snapshot today (technically, the first post-alpha snapshot) with a whole bunch of fixes for hardware acceleration. (Not in the blog post itself, but in the comments Ruario does say it includes the fix for the security issue that they released 11.52 about.) Main thing would seem to be the fix for the memory leak in Windows, and some changes to the "blocklist" (list of supported drivers) and a couple of crashers. No listed known issues.http://my.opera.com/desktopteam/blog/2011/10/20/hardware-acceleration-fixes

Yeah, same here. Never had any BSOD before but it started with using Opera 12. The last BSOD was due to tcpip.sys.
And yesterday, when I was watching youtube I got "Your display driver crashed and needed to be restarted" message. (I don't know English equivalent so just quick translation).
Win7 x64, nVidia 9600GT + last nVidia driver.

That's quite strange. But, despite you NOT using HW/acc, I'd still suggest you update your graphics drivers.
Did you try another browser? Maybe the problem lies with Flash...
(If nothing else stated the most current weekly) on a nice Dell Studio XPS 16!

Well, that IS strange.
I guess you should post your EXACT system setup and all the information the BSOD gives you...

DualCore AMD Athlon 64 X2, 3100 MHz (15.5 x 200) 6000+,
Asus M2N (3 PCI, 2 PCI-E x1, 1 PCI-E x16, 4 DDR2 DIMM, Audio, Gigabit LAN),
nVIDIA nForce 6100-430, AMD Hammer
ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series (512 MB) + Cat 10.09
BSOD - crash dump cannot create, system in total freeze. BSOD says it it one of Catalysts dll - sorry, I dont remember exactly. This same movies on Firefox in this very same time without any problem.

Of course I use 11.09 and they are latest AMD drivers, I dont use beta. My fault!

Start Opera with the -nohwaccel parameter and try again. This seems to fully disable HWA, while the opera:config setting allows the browser to do some GPU queries, etc.

anyone else confirming?
using non-default theme causes Opera to lose "docking" ablity on Windows7 (maximize window if pulled to the upper edge of the screen, etc)
anyone confirms?

Could it be this old bug in Vega:
> open a page where wmode for a Flash embed is set to either "direct" or "gpu" (examples - flashviewer_gpu and flashviewer_direct )
> cover the Flash embed with some Opera dialog (example - open the Start bar, or copy/paste javascript:alert('Hello World') in the address bar)
> the Flash moves to the top left corner of the screen and causes display corruption
?
Not sure if it's reported to the bugtracker...
