Issue opening word docs / PDF's - "Remember choice and do not show dialog again" greyed out

I've seen many people with similar issues as this, but I simply cannot find an answer..

When opening a Word Doc or PDF it prompts with the Dialog box (which I don't want.. just to open the file).. but cannot select 'Remember choice...' as it's greyed out.

I have been on Advanced / Downloads tab.. and made sure 'Hide fle type opened with Opera' isn't selected.. (I've manually changed each file type (doc / docx / rtf etc..) to open with default application.. (and even manually selected my application.. ( C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14 ) for doc type files.. for the pdf's I've tried the default location AND tried 'use the pdf Plug-in'...

BUT... still no luck, just opens the dialog box as usual... VERY frustrating..

Can anybody help with this issue...?

It depends on the site sending the correct MIME type.
