HTML5 video support for h264 when gstreamer has x264 plugin

Hello world! :-) On my FreeBSD AMD64 box I have installed gstreamer with all plugins to make WebM work with HTML5 (gstreamer+theora plugin). Since then WebM become available on my Opera browser, as stated by www.youtube.com/html5. I have also built the gstreamer x264 plugin but the h264 is not available anyway. Why is that? Is webm support and lack of support for h264 somehow hardcoded?

How can I make h264 work when my backend has x264 plugin available?
