Opera should check if its own installation is a default browser not Opera generally

As stated - when I isntalled 11.52 (usb install) recently next to another 11.52 installation (that was older but seems it updated) it doesn't recognize it's not the default browser. The old intallation stays as the default browser and I had to mess in the windows (XP) registry to fix that manually

USB installation by design should NOT become the system default.

I have three separate installation (for all users) of the latest stable Opera. Each of the non-default installations nags at second run if I want it be the default system browser in its default profile setting.

usb install should not touch the system settings at all, thus the bahaviour you describe is correct already.

actually it is. then the option should be hidden in the browser's settings

way easier: add a hover text to say "this setting will not have no effect with usb-installations" bigsmile (seriously, I work as a tester and when the documentation and the output don't match you can be sure that the devs only update the documentation whenever possible wink)
