Bar opens over YouTube link opened from desktop
Win 7/64, Opera 11.52/12. I saved the link of a YouTube video to my desktop. When it opens, well, take a look at the screenshot below. I'm still new to Win 7, so maybe it has to do with that, since I never saw anything like it with the XP. In any case, ideas appreciated.
Site Prefs is grayed out. It does look like a toolbar, but it didn't have any functionality and I don't see anything for it in the settings at YouTube. I also don't have any special toolbars in Opera, at least that I know of (and have never seen anything like this). After I saved it in IE9, in Opera the bar is there but now functional:

I saved the page link ot the desktop. I meant "Edit Site Prefs" is greyed out under Quick Prefs.
Doesn't happen when opened with IE9, so this is an Opera (or YouTube) bug and I've reported it.

You're right on both counts. I also tried html with images, but after about 25-30 seconds that seems to play double audio and the controls don't work. Thanks.
That looks to me like some kind of toolbar that would be put up from YouTube's end, but I've never seen one like it there. I would think it would be JavaScript-based, and the server isn't sending the right code to locate it properly. Does it seem to have any functionality?
I haven't known of anyone needing to do this on a YouTube site, but you might try editing your YouTube Site Preferences to have Opera Identify (or Mask) as Firefox (or IE):
Tools > Quick Preferences (or F12) > Edit Site Preferences > Network > Browser identification > Identify/Mask as FF/IE
(simply refresh the page after making a change, and try all 4 options if necessary)
Let us know if that makes a difference.

Hmm... I'm not sure what you mean, or more accurately where you mean it is grayed out. On the F12 popup menu ??? If so, is it that way on all sites? I'm getting too tired to think, but I can't think of any reason that would be grayed out. Some specific site preferences can be grayed out by setting global values elsewhere; e.g., de-selecting "Enable JavaScript" in the the Preferences dialog, IIRC: Ctrl+F12 > Advanced > Content > Enable JavaScript (un-check). But I can't think of anything that would disable Site Preferences globally.Site Prefs is grayed out.
Or do you mean by any chance that the Browser identification > Identify/Mask as FF/IE option is grayed out ??? If so, your User Agent ID is set globally to something other than the default value of 1 and it is preventing site-specific changes ??? (I can't recall exactly right now if that's how that works, but if your value is anything other than 1 (Opera) try changing it to 1, save the change, and then reload the YouTube page and see if your Site Preferences allow changing the User Agent on a per sit basis (i.e., no longer grayed out).

I'm not clear what you were saving in IE9 (the video?) and whether you think that had some relevance to the change in the bar, but it definitely looks like something from YouTube, given the same YouTube uploader's username (URehab) and the 40-count videos posted by that user, with the bar apparently supposed to be showing thumbnails to 20 of them. You mentioned not seeing any settings for it at YouTube, but if it is now functional, what kind of options does the Options button on the right give you access to?
I wonder if that is a (misbehaving) version of the bar I often see on many YouTube pages just above video on a page, which scroll left<>right through the uploader's video collection for you to select another video? In your screenshot the bar I'm talking about would usually be in the space between the video title and the video, where it says "URehab - 40 Videos - Subscribe" and that space would be a bit wider t accommodate the bar. I say "misbehaving" because it looks like it is in the wrong place, blocking the video behind it. But I don't really mean the bar is misbehaving... ...rather the webpage code being sent to Opera appears to be misbehaving.
Well let me know if any of the above helps you take it any further. Gotta get some Zzzz's
Oh, I just caught that you said this occurs when you save a link to a YouTube video. So is that screenshot of a YouTube webpage you have downloaded to your computer? (looks that way in the address bar) And did you mean this happens with a saved YouTube webpage, or just with a saved link. If it's the latter, I wonder if YouTube now has some kind of bar that is downloaded to your computer to save/manage the links ???
And now I'm noticing the "Unsaved Playlist" on the left end of your first screenshot, which might be consistent with that. Did yu by any chance "subscribe" to URehab's video list? And what, if anything, does that up-pointing double-arrow/chevron just to the right of the options button do if you click it?
Maybe I've been on the wrong track this whole time thinking this was occurring while you were watching videos, rather than when you saved a link or webpage.
I look forward to your clarifications,

...Yeah, I've played around with this every way I can think of in Opera 11.01 on WinXPsp3, and I haven't been able to replicate it. Since both of you (highstream and LeoCG) are on Win7/64 and more recent Opera versions, it seems likely to be something with one or the other of those (or the interaction of the two), that I'm not going to be able to help with.
But good luck with it, and I'll be following along to see what you figure out.
