New contact missing name

I typed in an email address manually, and expected Opera to add it to my contacts list as it usually does whenever sending to someone - it seems it only works properly if you reply to someone's email? But it only remembered the email address and not the name. I entered the address when sending the first email in the normal way, thus: "Forename Surname" <email@address.com>

I composed a new message, typed in "Forename Surname" <email@address.com> in the to field and sent the message. A contact with a name of "Forename Surname" with an address of email@address.com was created. So, that seems to work alright for me. I tested with a reply and with clicking the drop-down next to the address in the to header of a received message and clicking "add contact".

Maybe there's something more specific I need to reproduce the problem.

Hmmmm well that's working for me too now. I think what I did, and I just reproduced it, was to first send them a message using ONLY the email address. Then when I did it again with the name aswell, the contact wasn't updated.

Ah, I see. The "add new contact" code probably recognizes that there's already a contact with that email address and aborts.

If the contact doesn't have a name set yet, I could see perhaps the contact's name being updated so that it has a name. Not sure if I'd want it to keep changing names if the name changes though.

Adding a name when it isn't there would be a good idea. Not sure about updating a name. I suppose that doesn't really matter.

Doesn't sound like a bad idea to me either.
