Full Drag and Drop support

Opera must fully support Drag and Drop. Many users are leaving Opera just because it lacks Drag and Drop support. Drag and Drop support matters too much today. So I request Opera to implement-

1. HTML5 Drag and Drop
2. Saving an image by dragging it from Opera browser to a folder
3. Drag files to Opera browser (For example, Gmail attachment uploading with Drag and Drop)

While this might look so simple but it is an important thing. There are many standard things missing from Opera, with this being one of them. Please pay attention to these missing things what you call "low priority" instead of just paying attention to Core. What matters is user experience, implement these "low priority" things and users are so happy but keep working on "high priority" Core updates and users will leave you.

Opera is very good when it comes to drag and drop within the application. But is weak when dragging pictures into emails and to other places.

I'm afraid their unresponsivness has to do with platform/language Opera is bulit with. Its just a different kind of program - no DnD is a side effect. I dont know much about this stuff, thou.

And I must add that no DnD has made me use Opera less and less over the recent months (user since Opera 6).
If its at all possible - please make DnD work in Opera. Pretty please.

drog&drop TO browser will sure be added - its part of HTML5 spec, they are kind of forced to - and we can already drag files inside (try to drag text-file on opera) - so maybe in Opera12? its already in work.

+1 I'll defiantly never use it as I see it as a bad practice to drag and drop, but there are defiantly some people who couldn't live without this feature.

That is a strange comment. Please tell us why you see it that way?

Last time I checked snapfish.com was mostly unusable with Opera because of opera's limited/flawed drag-drop functionality.

This.
And it's still a working draft.
And Opera may be waiting something on it to change before implementing.
Or they're implementing other things they consider more important first...

I don't get why they don't just build a simple addon that opens a website in a dropdown (much like all the faceboook share extensions) ... no need to do integration with the "native" bookmarks, just get the shit done.

How is that related to Drag and Drop support in browser. And, Xmarks is a great product from (now) LastPass - they can't really make an extension for Opera because Xmarks needs access to Opera's bookmarks - and the Opera extension API does not provide a way to access bookmarks.

This has been posted several times but...
I completely agree, it was so long time ago when (for example) Mediafire implemented drag and drop. Ever since then I've been trying to achieve that on Operawithout succes.
I hope I won't have to wait anymore!
Edit: Just saw the link bigsmile
P.S. I don't think Google is going to support drag and drop for Opera on it's services, as always..

Drag and drop files. From browser -> Desktop.
From Desktop -> Browser to pages with forms allowing to post files.

I frequently use drag and drop to store URLs from the address bar to filesystem folders. DnD is an easy and comfortable way to quickly store pictures to a folder that resides on the desktop (or any other place). And last not least I have written an application that accepts URL-drops and then opens a filemanager window at that location - very helpful for editing our intranet (file based).

I gave opera 12.50 a try - but none of the above worked.

Just registrated only to proclaim that I liked to use opera, but I can't use it without inter-application DnD. I have to stick to Firefox.

Drag and drop in HTML5 is NOT the subject discussed here.

What is required to be able to work with Opera is drag and drop from the program to other applications or desktop.

If this is not possible (or adviseable for security reasons), at lest it should be required to provide drag and drop from the URL's toolbar to the desktop and folders. Just that possibility would satisfy the necessities of most users. For example, to drag urls to folders. Another example: What about those of us who work PIM or mind mapping software? We need to drag the URLs guys!

This requirement is absolutely essential to make the definitive move to Opera. I can't understand the reason why this feature it's not been implemented loooong time ago. No matter how many improvements you add. Without this one, the program is simply useless for my daily work.

Exactly. I can't imagine how many people are in the same situation and discarded the Opera browser after evaluation. And they don't listen!. Unbelievable!

This is a user-to-user forum, though the devs sometimes (rarely) contribute to threads.
The majority of the time there are just regular users present.

I love Opera but, at least, I would need to drag the URL to other tools (like folders, a PIM software of choice, etc). Not being able to do so is the reason why I have abandoned Opera in favor of Chrome.

All the use cases mentioned in the original post should be supported in Opera 12.x. Are there specific cases where this is not working.

Gmail drag and drop files to attach is not working. This is the only feature (yes only one) that I ask for. Everything else is perfect for me.
