IMAP - mail folders faded and became unavailable, subscription problems

Hi,

I have been using Opera and M2 mail client for a long time (at least 3 versions back). When my mail provider introduced IMAP to his service I have changed POP3 to it. I noticed that after using Opera for some time, mail folders became faded and I couldn't access them. Is this a known issue of Opera? There is nothing wrong while using webmail by browser.

My OS is Win7 32bit, newest stable Opera (always!smile), IMAP and mail provider is o2.pl ( poczta.o2.pl - this is address to the webmail). Anyone has similar problems with other providers? This looks like losing synchro or subscription.

Also if I want to unsubscribe from fetching old mail folder, I can't because when I select it in IMAP Folders window, after closing it is subscribed again.

I've seen this issue with Gmail IMAP before. It usually happens when I use a check interval that's less than 10 minutes. After a while, the IMAP server starts sending system error responses and Opera chokes on the responses. Restarting Opera fixes it. And, setting the check interval higher to 30 minutes for example makes the server happy and prevents the issue. Since Gmail iMAP supports IDLE, I still get messages right away even though the check interval is 30 minutes.

But, for me, it's usually just 1 or 2 folders that gray out when this happens, not all.

Not sure if your experiencing what I describe. But, you can enable logging and see if the log shows any errors.

I think I remember users having issue with those servers before. Not sure though.

So this "gray out" thing is probably some kind of "known issue". I will wait for new Opera 12 become stable. I have tried Opera Next on my mail account and it is running better with IMAP then Opera 11.5, but still - it's alpha. For now I can say - IMAP in Opera is getting some nice improvements and I look forward to use it smile . Thanks for the tip with logging - I will keep that in case of future bugs smile

The Gmail IMAP issue is a known issue with no known way to reproduce at will. And, the actual cause is not known, so it can't be fixed. But, only your log will reveal whether it's the same issue as a describe or a different one.
