How to automatically change one's forum signature with the current Opera version (s)he's using?

Hi Top Posters wink,

You, top posters, have set your forum signature with, at least, the Opera version you're using (along with system info), I was wondering if you change it manually each time you update Opera, or do you have some trick to get it automatically (eg. using javascript)? TIA

Change it manually.
There's no other way but it would be a handy feature to have, but I don't think it would be at all possible.

Can't you change it manually. You need to change it on a per 2 month basis (average) and editing it is not a big deal. Opera 11.52 was released in October, 11.51 in August, 11.50 in June, 11.11 in May, 11.10 in April. So a new version was almost on a per 2 months basis with Opera 11.11 being an exception due to it being a critical security release.

So are you so lazy that you cannot even edit your signature on a per month/per 2 month basis?

The idea is to have it change automatically when using different versions, whether on one PC or several.

The Bug Report Wizard is able to detect the current Opera version, so I don't see why this should be impossible.

So what would happen if you were using two or more versions? The signature would automatically change every time you log in with a different version? What if you logged in with another browser to report a serious problem you were having with current Opera version?

It may be possible but, to me, seems hardly useful.

Users could see whether I was browsing with Opera 11.52 or Opera Next. This might be relevant to the problem reported.

You are talking about the first time users seeking help with troubleshooting, I suspect. Yes, it would save us asking.

This is not the point Swapnil99pro, as everybody can see, I'm not a top poster as you guys. So, I'm just looking for an automatic way not to forget updating my signature when I post once every N months. If I forget, then my signature is then counterproductive, it is here to give information readily available, so if I can't be sure that it is correct, it would be preferrable not to include it.
So, thank you to worry about me, but I do think I'm not lazy, OTOH I'm just not sure that my memory is reliable enough when I do things once or twice a year, and among tons of others.

Well, as noted by comments following yours, it would be not easy to handle 2 different versions this way. I was mainly thinking about the current release, as though I'm looking at Opera Next from time to time, I'm not really using it as a beta tester. So the idea would be to have my signature with only the main stream version, and not both as I currently did it (manually wink )

Hey, good pick, I'll try to investigate this track, thanks for the idea.

The thing is that members are not allowed to use custom JavaScript or PHP. I guess the only way is that developers create a specific BBCode tag for it.
