mini 5 started unnecessarily reload when filling forms

this wasn't the case before: when I'm filling a form with several entries needed on the webpage (ie. search filters) after finishing input in every entry the webpage reloads. if I stop the reloading, the form might loose my last input! (or even many/all happened too I think)

very stupid, this is the case on mini 5.1 on windows mobile 6.5 (SE xperia X1) and same noticed before on uiq3 (SE P1i)

Opera sends the form data to its server.

yeah maybe but it should do it when the form is complete which the user confirms by clicking appropriate button on the website, not after every freaking entry thus making it so lengthy and frustrating!

The loading is caused by Javascript on the form page. If there's an event listener associated with an input field then the input has to be sent back to the server so that the Javascript can run, otherwise lots of sites don't work properly. There's no way of telling in advance whether the Javascript is going to do something useful (validating input, dropping down a list of options, enabling the submit button, ...) or not.

yeah but I don't think it was like this before, so I assume the browser's behavior changed !
on the desktop version the reloading does not happen, just tried there two polish sites I have this problem on mini5: rozklad-pkp.pl and allegro.pl/listing.php/search and there are no connection attempts during filling the form and no problems even when I disconnect internet for that time

I think this is mini's bug ! Specifically it might be it's turbo function that changed ?

I don't think we've made any changes in that area recently. Maybe the sites changed?

Sounds like you don't understand how Opera Mini works. In Desktop the Javascript runs in the browser itself, so unless it accesses the network you wouldn't notice anything happening as you fill in the form. In Mini Javascript is run on our servers, so to run the it the Mini client has to send a request back to the servers and wait for an updated version of the page. If the Javascript hasn't changed anything then it looks like the page has just reloaded.

Turbo is a separate product (part of desktop), Opera Mini doesn't use Turbo.

Well I meant mini - by using Opera's servers - is a feature somewhat similar to turbo.

Anyway from what you say looks like it was always like that but I strongly feel different, maybe other user's can confirm how was and how it is currently.

That works as void(0) with mini6 and reload the whole page with mini4. It seems that the core of Opera Mini developed in j2me is continuously under development (in tandem with native Opera Mini) but that explains the lack of QA only apparently since nobody can assure that javascript reloads can be fixed at some point - at least a direct answer was avoided.

If you think there is a bug in Opera Mini could you describe it in more detail? How to reproduce it? what is the actual and expected result?

Not very user friendly. Does this also mean that form data you entered is lost?

Chirpie it might get lost if you stop the java script reloading

ministefang look at my first post: the problem (be it bug or not) is described. As I undestand Sagrid confirms this has been an issue with Mini

That's because in the default browser, javascript is run in the browser itself. Whereas in opera mini it is run in the server.

I can post here because there is only one or twoform entry boxes, and some other sites..

I can duplicate the problem easily..

Use ANY version 6.x of Opera Mini and try to post an ad to the community section of craigslist.org (any city) and it never will.

I have also tried to post to wanted/for sale:Autoparts...
It will not post there either..

To help more:
Sanyo/Kyocera Innuendo phone with an 8GB microSD card installed.

Opera Mini is still better than the default browser for me, and BOLT (full version) crashes the phone after it is opened (making it unusable).... I'll stick with Opera Mini for now, but I do wish I could post to craigslist (even if it didn't support image upload)

Besides the reloads, when the submit button is pressed all fields are empty when the page reloads with an error of missing or invalid data.. Try it yourself.

to be clear, the last post above was posted from OM on the listed phone, but craigslist will not work for posting ads, even if i elect not to try to attach any pictures...
