How to Upload Mail to an IMAP Server
Uploading Mail to an IMAP server is pretty simple. In the mail panel, you just drag messages from "Inbox" or "Sent" under the you@example.com access point for a POP account to an IMAP folder view ("Inbox" or "Sent" for example) under the you@example.com access point for the IMAP account.
If you only have the messages you want to upload stored as mbs (mbox) files (from the store/accountN folder in a backed-up mail folder for example), just use "Menu -> settings -> import and export -> import mail -> import generic mbox" to import the messages into a local POP account. Then, drag the messages in the local POP account to the IMAP account. Once they're uploaded correctly, you can delete the local pop account.
Note that depending on your connection and the IMAP server, trying to upload too many messages at once may cause the connection to time out. So, you might want to upload in smaller batches if that becomes a problem.
Also note that message statuses and labels etc. are not carried over when uploading from the POP account to the IMAP account.
To give you an example of how uploading to an IMAP server is useful:
Say you use POP and chose to remove all messages from the server and now want them back on the server. You can add an IMAP account in Opera to connect to the same mail account. Then, you can drag messages from the POP account to the "Inbox" folder in the IMAP account and Opera will upload all the messages to the server. Then, you can delete the IMAP account and on the next sync of the POP account, all the messages on the server will be fetched (where you'd th en delete the old, read copies).
