Too many shortcut keys, how to disable them?

Opera has way too many shortcut keys - the annoying ones are the ones without any CTRL etc key included. For example I tried to type in a form on a web page, but had forgotten to highlight the entry box first. When I started typing several things happened and stuff was all over the place. This is happening several times a day. I'd like to turn off all these absurd shortcuts, but when I go to edit the keyboard shortcuts, they aren't organised in order of key, so for example I cannot find the shortcut for the letter F whatever that does. Is there a way to see them all in order, and switch off the ones I don't want?

Preferences, Shortcuts, and uncheck "Enable single key shortcuts." They are disabled by default, so you must have changed the setting at some point.

The box is already unticked!! I just tested it again and it didn't do it. It seems to be intermittently ignoring the cleared checkbox.

By the way there is still one I found that always operates - spacebar - which seems to act like pagedown, unless you are at the bottom of the page, then it goes to the next page. Also one I want - g - it goes to the next unread newsgroup message and marks the current one read.

Hotkeys inside the message reading window don't require modifiers (necessarily), since you wouldn't normally be typing inside that window. So G or K or whatever is fine there.

You could remove the (extra) assignment for the spacebar if you want.
