Opera-Next bug : displays garbage instead of text

Hi all,

Using Opera-Next on Ubuntu on this page: http://vangeijt.home.xs4all.nl/opera/dndbuttons.html

I got this:

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

The same with Opera-Labs-Camera-and-Pages.

-- EDIT -- I forget to tell this happens on Ubuntu 11.04 -- END EDIT --

Sorry for the off-topic. Seems it is now moved in the relevant forum section.

Do you have all necessary fonts installed on your PC?

Let me say it displays fine using Opera 11.52 on the same configuration, so this is really a regression, a bug in both Opera‑Next and Opera‑Labs‑Camera‑and‑Pages.

Let me see ... Labs/Camera has HWA disabled, so it shouldn't be that. Something related to HTML5 or CSS3?

First check your hardware, it can be a RAM fault.

Also try to switch OFF ClearType and other similar functions.

Ubuntu (Linux) wouldn't have Cleartype per se, but there's probably a setting for "subpixel hinting" ...

Disable it too. Colored pixels are the sign of such operations.

Sorry for being late. I too though about the same Slealex, and made some test.

There is indeed no ClearType in Ubuntu, however there are similar things. There are four mods, it appears the page displays fine with three of these and fails with only one, which is the option named "Subpixel smoothing (LCDs)".

But still also note this does not occurs with the current Opera release, which displays the page fine under the same configuration. At least, this may be a track to help find where the bug come from.

Similar issue with Opera 11.60 beta on Ubuntu, with this page:
http://rapd.wordpress.com/2008/07/02/python-staticmethod-vs-classmethod/

The line starting with a big B, displays garbage right after the big B. Remaining of the page is OK, except the W of “What’s this?” on the right, which is displayed as garbage too.
