The connection with the IMAP server was unexpectedly interrupted. Opera 11.52 Build 1100

I frequently get this mailer error "The connection with the IMAP server was unexpectedly interrupted." and I can't open console either to determine the specifics of the error.

What mail provider?

If it's Gmail, you probably have your check interval set too low. If it's fastmail, see <http://blog.fastmail.fm/2011/10/27/tcp-keepalive-ios-5-and-nat-routers/>, which might be the cause.

In the dialog, if you choose to open the console and switch the filter to "errors", it should tell you what account got disconnected.

If this is happening a lot, you could log the connection and see if you see any errors before the disconnect happens.

No my check interval is set high. I have all of my email checked every 12 hours. I have several imap email accounts, but only on two services from AIM, and Opera. Everything else is pop3 including gmail. As I said before I can't open console. I click on open console on the dialog box, and nothing happens. Thanks for your response, I will check out your links you posted as possible solutions.

That's weird.

For IMAP accounts that support IDLE, the IDLE connection might timeout after 30 minutes and if there isn't another check to reestablish the connection and stop and start IDLE again, the connection might be lost and maybe you'll get the error. So, try setting the check interval between 10-30 minutes. Or, if you don't need to get your email as soon as it comes in, you can close down Opera and edit accounts.ini in the mail folder. For under the sections for your IMAP accounts, you can set "IMAP IDLE Support" to 0. Then, you can see if the problem goes away.

Or, if it's just the dialog that's bugging you and checking mail manually and clicking on an IMAP folder and the check at the next interval all cause a reconnect with no problems, you can disable the mail error dialog with the "do not show again" checkbox.
