Spell Check Intermittent
Some times it works. Some times it doesn't work at all. This has been happening since at least Opera 7.5. Sometimes I even misspell things on purpose like "whothefudge wroat thiss brocken sentance" and it doesn't catch any of it ... yet the next time, at the very same site using the very same page and forms, it works perfectly. Also, I just noticed today that the word "arborist" ( as in: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arborist ) supposedly is misspelled. I find about 4 or 5 words a month like that and it drives me nuts searching the words at several sites making certain that I have them correct. Will these things be addressed at some point?
Spell-check is off by default in single line text field, even if its enabled in multi-line text fields. Right-click in a single line text field and select a dictionary to enable it.
The dictionaries are from OpenOffice. If any word is missing just add it. No dictionary is ever going to include every word known to man.

Thanks Pesala, I did as you said in a single line text field to see how it works out... but... I have never had a problem with a single line text field. The problems I have had are in forums and blog posts (ie: multi-line input forms). One I use quite often is at www.npr.org the spell check never works any better than 50% of the time there. Like I said, I will see how it goes... maybe Opera for some reason thinks that some multi-line forms are single. Could it be possible, that on forums/blogs that restrict posts to a certain number of characters, that the forms may first process input text as un-wrapped and then later reformat it when called via php making Opera think that they are single line?
Still happening. Now a lot more often.
Another issue that I have had for a long time now (around 3 years) is that sometimes (about 1 in 10 times!) when typing if I go back to make a correction the cursor will begin to erase letters ahead of the new text instead of pushing the text forward. For instance if I accidentally type:
The dog is brown but the cta is whtie with black spots.
if I try to go back and correct the "cta is whtei" to "cat is white" I will end up with:
The dog is brown but the cat is whitepots.
It erases as many characters in front of the newly typed characters as I type. Highly annoying especially when you are posting something with several hundred words with links and can easily become confused / disoriented in the text. However, copying/cutting the text, refreshing the page and starting over starts from scratch... most of the time.
