What's wrong with 'Posts' counter for some users?

For some users, I have seen that despite having many posts in the forums, the 'Posts" counter is blank. Since I don't remember the ones I saw earlier (unfortunately I never maintained a list), I will post the most recent example.

The most recent example of blank 'Posts' counter is from an Opera employee - Marian H.
Her most recent post I saw is http://my.opera.com/community/forums/findpost.pl?id=10650502 and yet in the Posts section, it's blank.

So is it a bug being experienced by people who joined My Opera in a particular month, or during a particular time period?

OK, but that glitch needs to be corrected. And that's pretty simple. While the Posts counter is blank, anyone can view the posts of the users affected by blank Posts counter.

For example, for the Opera employee Marian H, all her posts can be seen at -

http://my.opera.com/community/forums/search.dml?username=marianh&exactusername=Y&datemodifier=newer&limitdate=any&sortby=post&disp=post&ignorememberships=1

And that can be done any user - just change ?username=marianh to ?username=<username>

The other easy way is to reset the Posts counter for affected users.

Is it OK to expect it to be fixed by Q1 2012?

Marian's post counter is fixed now. The problem affects users that registered in the beginning of April 2008, so we need to think of a solution for all of them.

Hmm... Yep, the one I'm aware of has been on board since April 2008! up

Very interesting! Once you know what caused it, I'd be curious to know if you're free to tell us. smile

Since the issue hasn't happened since April 2008, it would only be speculation. It was probably fixed back then, possibly through a fix for another issue as the affected users weren't fixed up.

Interesting! So are you able to locate the affected users from the back end, or only if you or someone else notices them in the forum interface?

Yes, I've got a list of all affected users.

Bump. Please fix Posts counter for http://my.opera.com/AntonDiaz/about/ - that obviously means that the bug isn't completely fixed yet.

Yeah, I've noticed that as well. I asked one long-time user who's post count doesn't show up about it once (because I thought maybe it was a setting I didn't know about, or something he might have blocked somehow for some reason), but he didn't know why it was that way and thought it was just a glitch in the forum software.

Fix the Posts counter for AntonDiaz (see my post above), and then fix it for http://my.opera.com/daydr3am3r1/
