which opera version/build is the best so far?

I've been using opera for quite some time now but the latest version seems to be quite slow. i get this (not responding) everytime i open opera and start to type in the address bar. seeming it's slow and having unknown problems with it, i've downgrade to opera 9.6 as my main browser and i also have opera 11.52 installed just as default browser.
I'm not experienced with testing the browser or w/e so just wondering if anyone would have an idea of which of the opera versions from 10 and up is the best so far?

I don't think there is any doubt that the latest version is the fastest. Note that my hardware is nearly five years old and much slower than most users have, though my broadband connection is relatively fast 10 Mb/sec Virgin Media cable.

If some users find it slower then something is not working as it should be on their setup. The most common cause seems to be Opera Turbo being enabled although they have a broadband connection.

The latest version is always the best. If you have any issues, please ask about them in the forums but try your best no to stay with an old version. You can try a clean-install of Opera 11.52 and see if it helps to overcome the Not responding issues. To do a clean-install, go to Add/Remove Programs (Windows XP) or Programs and Features (Windows Vista and 7) in Control Panel, select Opera and click the Uninstall button, in the Un-install Opera window, select the checkbox for 'Delete my Opera user data' and click Uninstall. After uninstallation, download Opera from opera.com/browser/download
Windows 7 SP1 x86 edition and Windows XP Service Pack 3.

10.10 is blazing fast, the probably even faster than 9.x versions. I wouldn't even have switched if it wasn't for addons.
11.01 is reasonably fast and is very stable so far.

I've only downgraded to 9.6 because i wanted to see how long i could use it without losing my bookmarks as i mentioned on a different post. For the Not Responding thing, it happens all the time when i type something in the address bar to start searching for my bookmarks-note that opening opera is fine and smooth, it only happens when i start to type in few letters to search after opening opera-. I'd type in like 3 letters then it would freeze for like 30 seconds. And yes, I did install a fresh copy of opera. So the 2 main problem i have with opera that i couldn't find any answers to yet is: 1.Not Responding when typing in address bar. 2.Losing bookmarks with unknown reasons to why. Other than that i love opera overall with its all-in-one features. Better than using ffx or chrome and having to install extensions or add-ons. but those 2 major problems is making me trying to find an alternate which i cant really find @.@
