Hide mouse pointer while typing

I have my mouse pointer set to hide while typing. Which it does. In every program except Opera - why?

It mainly annoys me in the email client, but it is doing the same typing in this forum.

I have that setting set for my mouse. But, it really only works in Notepad and MS Word for me. It doesn't work in Firefox, Chrome, IE9, Notepad++ or Thunderbird for me.

But in Firefox for rich text editors (not textareas or anything) and in Thunderbird (the body of a compose window is kind of like a rich text editor), the mouse cursor is a pointer over the whole editor element but changes to an i-beam cursor if you hover over text. So, if while you're typing, the text runs under the pointer, the cursor will change to an i-beam. It won't disappear though. For Opera and others, the cursor is an i-beam the whole time.

It does work in Sylpheed though for me.

I guess Opera just doesn't support it.

Argh! It's a facility that's been around since windows 95. How can it not be supported? It's very annoying when you can't see what you're typing.

I've always just moved the cursor out of the way and never thought about it.

I'm a lazy git. I'll try a feature request.

Interesting. It hides when I'm typing in Opera on Mac. It's one of those things I've actually never thought about, but I realize it's quite smart bigsmile

If it does it, it's not noticed. If it doesn't, it's annoying. The mouse cursor is often over where you're typing, as you've just clicked there to insert text.

Most likely the mac is more forceful with it's setting. I suppose this could also be called a windows bug or limitation. Fat chance of getting M$ to fix it though. Mind you I'm changing from Vista to Seven soon as long as it works.....
