Torrent download not working. Testing port, failed.

Hi all. I´ve had this problem for a while now and thought I should do something about it. I suspect that I´m using a port that doesn´t work for this purpose because, surely, I can´t be asked to switch off the firewall...(?)

The options to do something about the torrent settings are very limited. Where should I look. What can I do to get the torrent download working again?

Much appreciated.

You should look at your router’s port forwarding settings and make sure the port is publicly forwarded to the machine your are using to download the files.

All settings in Opera are in opera:config#BitTorrent

I recommend not to use Opera's BitTorrent client. Opera's BitTorrent client hasn't been updated since 2007, and does not support many important things.
Windows 7 SP1 x86 edition and Windows XP Service Pack 3.
