Google Search Button Inoperative

Through a number of versions now (I'm now using 11.52) the google search "button" or field in the address bar has failed to work for me. I'm finally posting here because my opera use (been w it since 5.12) is threatened by firefox whose google search field works for me.

Its obviously an important function for me...i'm tired of opening a new window and using google from speed dial...just use FF more.

Help me stay w the big O pls. by pointing me to a fix.

Thanks!!

It works if you just hit enter? And what about using the address bar?

Are you using the default toolbar?

If you type "g keyword" without the quotes on the address bar and press enter, what happens?

Funny, I just lost my address bar search capabilities too. Even the search box does not work...using 'g search' or any other engine search, whether set to default or not. Just dead. However, typing 'google.com' in the address bar takes me to google, and searching from google's site works fine, but just typing 'google' in the address bar yields nothing, doesn't even take me to google site, i.e. just dead. Autocompletion is set in the preferences, search option settings are ok.

Now the other search engines are working, just not google. Maybe I'm being punished for using other searches...
