Feed search broken

Hi,
I'm trying to do a search in my feeds. If the focus is on a mail folder, fine. But if the focus is on a feed folder, after the first letter Opera terminates the search, and any succeeding letters are interpreted as mail hotkeys. The interface switches to the Mail (vs feed) toolbar, and I can search correctly from the search bar there. But the original search bar, in the feed toolbar, is broken.

Right-click on the feeds toolbar above a feed message list, goto "customize" and reset the toolbar to its defaults.

If necessary, goto "Ctrl + F12 -> advanced" and then goto "toolbars" and "shortcuts" and make sure "Opera Standard" is set for both the keyboard and toolbar setups.

You an also click the view button on the mail toolbar and "reset mail panel to defaults" to see if that helps.

If searching is really broken, see <http://my.opera.com/operawiki/forums/topic.dml?id=1133052>.

Also, if necessary, use the "standalone installation" in the Opera installer to install to a folder on you desktop. Then, subscribe to a feed in it and try to search, just to see if it works there to find out if it's just your normal install or not.

Ok, none of those methods worked on my main installation here. Searching itself isn't broken, it's the initial search bar that's broken. When the second one appears, in the Mail toolbar, it works.

I did a portable installation, and that worked perfectly. So something in my installation is hosed.

Thanks. None of what I thought were the pertinent parts of that solved the problem. I'll wait until the next update and see. This is an issue I can work around for now.

O.K. But note that if upgrading doesn't fix it, you'll probably have to create a new mail folder.

Oy vey. I've bookmarked that, thanks. As it stands, the first search box in effect just leads to the one that works, as long as I remember to stop typing in it after one keystroke. So this is a last resort.

Good news, I found the problem. The search box I was using on the Feed toolbar was Search for Mail. I suppose that I put it there myself? This morning I discovered the Quick Find and Start Search boxes, and they are working ok.

The "search for mail" field should work fine and long as you don't click the "All Messages" button in the toolbar that shows. But, if the quick find field works better, great!

In any case, 11.6 fixes the problem very nicely. Great job on the new look and features. I don't care for the horizontal or double-line layouts, and I don't think the group by day helps me either, but thankfully these are optional. All around great step forward.
